In hard times, tent cities rise across the country (women and minorities hardest hit)
PMSNBC ^ | 18 Sept 2008 | Some Leni Riefenstahl wannabe at the AP

RENO, Nev. - A few tents cropped up hard by the railroad tracks, pitched by men left with nowhere to go once the emergency winter shelter closed for the summer.

Then others appeared — people who had lost their jobs to the ailing economy, or newcomers who had moved to Reno for work and discovered no one was hiring.

Within weeks, more than 150 people were living in tents big and small, barely a foot apart in a patch of dirt slated to be a parking lot for a campus of shelters Reno is building for its homeless population. Like many other cities, Reno has found itself with a "tent city" — an encampment of people who had nowhere else to go.

Thank Gaia this never happens during Dem administrations, who knows what we'd do.

yep homelessness only happens during Republican administrations. It started with Reagan didn’t it? It continued through the term of Bush 41, then disappeared for Bill Clinton’s eight wonderful years of peace and prosperity. What didn’t people like about the ‘90s, shouted Hillary? The peace or the prosperity?

Then homelessness started again on Jan. 20, 2001 and has been with us ever since.

It will disappear if Obama is elected, and only get worse if McCain wins.

Cheers!

They are either illegals or mentally ill people that should be in mental hospitals except that the ACLU “liberated” them years ago.

The Unions are sending out workers to picket in “tent cities” outside of McCain’s place.

Cindy Shithea& erected a tent city outside of Crawford if people forget.

Have BullStalin to do with poverty. AgitProp101.

I wonder when we’ll be hearing about a tent city going up in Central Park for all the minorities and women whose stock shares are now worthless.

Note that the writer of the piece couldn’t find a single person in the tent city, or anywhere else, who was a “victim” of a mortgage foreclosure.

In the field of law, this is called “assuming facts not in evidence.”

Shrill, strident advocacy in the guise of “news.”

When it comes right down to it, the DemonRAT’s solution for homelessness is Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. And the ultimate solution is Marxism when they have killed the U.S. economy.

I would have to agree that a number of these folks mentioned...are probably mentally ill. The government doesn’t collect data like this....because then you’d have to apprehend these guys and put them into some kind of facility...which no one from either the left or right really want to mess with. If you asked me for my numbers of “nuts walking free”....I’d guess at around 750,000 across the entire US...ought to be in a facility. The vast majority have no connection back to their families because they really irritated them greatly and there is little sympathy for these guys.

The amusing thing is that all of these mentally ill folks have their right to vote....while “felons” remain under the shadow. Something doesn’t smell right about this voting game of who is ok and who is not.

Look at that poor investment banker, his hair turned white and the only friend he has left is his pet goose Obama. Cheer up, free carton of smokes on election day!
