That was Dow Corning. Corning Glassworks is alive and well and make alot of nice labware (Flasks and such) I use everyday.
They also sponsor a traveling glass-blowing show which I saw at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. It's neat to see how the hot glass is worked.
