Pat McCrory has the lead in a new poll.
According to a recent poll by SurveyUSA, the Republican gubernatorial candidate had 49 percent, Democrat Beverly Perdue had 41 percent and Libertarian Mike Munger had 5 percent.
Five percent of respondents were undecided.
"Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released four weeks ago, McCrory is up 5 points and is in the lead for the first time; Perdue is down 6 points and trails for the first time," the pollsters write.
The survey of 671 likely voters was conducted between Sept. 6 and 8. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.

Just maybe this time...........
This is good news.
In almost every race, the GOP is trending in the right direction.
Would this be the first GOP governor in North Carolina history?
No Jim Martin ‘85-’93 was the last.
I watched a debate on WRAL last week, Perdue did not look good at all and the moderators were frustrated with her posturing and not answering questions.
FYI
And Jim Martin was a pretty good Governor for us.
I’m so glad that corrupt Cabal in Raleigh are not doing well in most pre election polls.
I’m a touch indifferent on McCrory, but my goodness...anyone but the criminal enterprise in Raleigh.
If anyone with half a brain had tuned in to even a few minutes of the debates between McCrory and Perdue they would have a clear cut choice. Heck, if they had even glimpsed the screen with the volume on mute there would be no contest! We need McCrory in Raleigh!
There’s been 6 GOP Governors, 3 during Reconstruction, 1 from 1897-1901, and then not again until 1972 (Jim Holshouser) and then Jim Martin. It will have been 20 years since Martin was elected to a 2nd term this year.
Also, until Cherie Berry was elected Labor Commissioner, there hadn’t been a republican elected to the council of state since reconstruction.
You forgot Jim Gardner, the GOP Lt Governor elected in 1988.
The gap needs to open very wide. It should be no contest given what a bit of fluff Perdue is.
I don’t trust Survey USA. Their TV-station sponsored polls always seem to generate results that would suggest candidates do more advertising.
