I think this is very unfair for Oprah. She had Obama on her show before he announced. Later she said she wouldn't have anyone on her show who was running for office. She never had Obama on her show again. She's just sticking to the rules she laid our for herself.
She never had a discussion about having Palin on her show because Palin is running for office and she's not having anyone on her show running for office. This is a non-story and a bit mean when context isn't given.
I’m certainly no Oprah fan and I think she’s a bigot, endorsing only a single candidate (ever) for ONE reason - his race.
That said, I agree with you.
She’s not using her show as an Obama platform (wisely) and she’s sticking to her plan.
I have never seen the Oprah show so don’t have much of an idea what goes on there. I will vote for McCain and Palin whether Sarah ever goes on the show. If I were Sarah I would not got on the the show because she doesn’t need Oprah and her crowd.
She doesn't get to set ANY rules, only the Constitution does.
She's either a racist bigot and a sexist, or she's not, politically or otherwise.
The ONLY way she can not be a bigot and sexist is to take Palin on in a straight up tough interview NOW. She would rather only be a little bit pregnant.
I agree with you...non story and sets us up to do the very thing we hate when liberals do.
Unfair? Oprah’s whole life and persona is one big marketing opportunity. Between her mag, her show, her book club — it’s a cult of personality much like the other “O”’s rise to fame.
I’m sorry — you cannot separate Oprah the Citizen, and Oprah’s Media Empire.
Oprah can use this silly rule of hers all she wants. But when she publicly tells everyone how she “cried her eyelashes out at Obama’s speech”, she is not too subtly using her celebrity — and thereby her show to promote Obama.
Like I said, this is a lose-lose situation for Oprah — but she couldn’t help herself but to promote a Black candidate. Even though he’s an empty suit and totally unqualified.
The smart thing to do is not to have taken sides in the Hillary vs. Obama debate. The wondrous thing is that she probably thought this whole thing would have blown over after the primary. But McCain chose a woman for Veep!!!
She dug this hole for herself, and just from my own personal circle I know a bunch of ladies who will never watch another show again.
