The terrorist attacks on America of September 11, 2001 resulted in a wave of patriotism that had not been seen in decades. The shared enthusiasm for the country and the flag were strong and widespread.
It created difficulties for reporters, however, who try to professionally earn and keep people's trust by avoiding personal partisan displays while reporting the news.
It was not only ABC but many other media outlets who struggled with trying to preserve their image as journalists

Since when is wearing an American flag, if you are an American, wrong? Why shouldn't American journalists(spit)wear American flags. Just because they are journalists(spit)doesn't mean they give up their citizenship rights, or does it? Does this mean none of the journalists(spit)will vote in the upcoming and other future elections in order not to appear partisan? Does this mean they will no longer be in the tank for Democrats?
They don't really stand by their creed do they except for the part about hating America, that they do very well.

She’s got a point. When the overriding theme is “why we should hate America”, wearing a flag pin would send a mixed message, unless they wore them upside down. I agree that for a MSM journalist to display an American flag is a contradiction; they would be more consistent if they wore a hammer and sicle, or a red crescent.
