Oh and the hypocrisy! The NYT bemoans how the Palin pick compromised experience, judgment and qualifications. Funny, how they don't ask if that applies to their favored candidate Obama, who has none in all the above categories! If she's such a poor pick, why they are taking up an entire column about it? It would be obvious to every one! The fact of the matter is Obama is unqualified to be President since even by the NYT own admission, McCain has the experience. And since he does, it says a lot about their political expediency that they turn around on a dime and now declare they don't trust his judgment in picking his own running mate!

No one reads the NYT. Not for the political advice dispensed in its op-ed pages.

That editorial and Gibson’s sneering and condescending line of questioning are some of the last gasps of media dinosaurs. Perhaps back when the 3 networks and a few east coast based papers dominated political news and commentary might these hack jobs have had some influence. Today, however, they are transparent pieces of garbage who need to be put out to pasture at some liberal media think tank or “center.”
And they can’t stand it. The punishment for them is not necessarily an ideological loss, but rather irrelevance.

In case the "editors" at
The New York Times have forgotten, Governor Palin is the second name on the Republican ticket.
The first name on the Democrat ticket is Senator "Coke-head" Obama: a man with no executive experience, a man who has demonstrated that not only does he have a very thin skin, but that he is easily rattled when circumstances turn against him. A man who sometimes simply loses his train of thought and cannot seem to gracefully recover it, such as here.

I thought Charlie Gibson missed the Bush Doctrine as well. He said the Bush Doctrine was that the US has a right to pre-emptive strikes. That's not the doctrine Bush articulated after 9-11. He said that we would treat any nation that harbors, protects, or tolerates terrorists in their midst as terrorist nations. They were by definition enemies of the US in the war on terror.

That's like listing "2 years job hunting" as your experience on a job application.

i wonder what the ny slimes has to say about biden asking a crippled guy in a wheelchair to stand up. They would have said, if the Hussein-man had been there; look he is standing up and packing his wheelchair and walked out with it on his shoulder!!!

>>It was reported that the Bush Doctrine was the concept that we had the right to engage in preemptive war, as we did in 2003<<
You are taking Gibson’s word for it? In fact, either Gibson didn’t understand that the term “Bush Doctrine” refers to several different Bush policies, or he just wanted to set a trap by asking a question that had no correct answer.

Obama’s selection raises questions about the judgement of the democrat party and half of America. But, then again, we already knew that was in question before they selected him.
Obama is less ready for the Vice Presidency than Palin is, and he’s running for the top spot!

I have never been so disgusted with media as right now. Never so much. I want to break something. Only by the pure, unadulterated, grace of God, has my TV not been totally obliterated at various points in the last few weeks. The "righteous" anger rising up is just so intense!

The NYT’s problem is that they have such a long and detailed history of outright hypocrisy and deceit that their rantings in this and so many other matters are now dismissed out of hand.
Governor Palin is far more qualified and experienced than their guy, Hussein Obama. And they know it. But they don’t have anything else to use on Governor Palin so we end up with utterly fatuous tripe like this piece.
It does my heart good to know they have so little to work with and are held in such high contempt by so many.

One day soon we’ll see the NYT reduced to a single broadsheet handed out free by bums who are paid with bottles of Ripple.

Find Charles Krauthammer’s article about the “Bush Doctrine.” It’s a media generated term, not a written policy statement. He said Gibson got it wrong and defined it so as to trap Palin into a gaffe.

didnt you love it when obwana said running his campaign for president gives him executive experience ? geesh LOL, they have burned through a boatload of money (six million dollars for the Baracropolis alone, which ended up being the butt of jokes), turned down public financing, and now 0bama has to spend time fundraising instead of going to the increasingly-anemic rallies around the country. In addition, his decision to centralize the state-raised campaign money to Chicago has dried up contributions to the down-ticket dems. Great strategy, if you're a Karl Rove mole.
It is microcosm of what they'd do with a federal budget.
