Did Obama Steal his 'Lip Stick on a Pig' Speech from a Political Cartoon?

The folks at FreeRepublic have found an interesting... uh, shall we say coincidence... concerning Barack Obama's widely panned September 9 comments made at a rally in Virginia where he seemed to be saying that Governor Palin was a "pig" by referencing the "lipstick" quote from her acceptance speech at the GOP convention. It is looking like Obama's comments were not off the cuff, but scripted. And, not only were they scripted, but they were stolen without attribution from a Washington Post political cartoon by Tom Toles from September 5.

Obama tried to quip that "you can put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig" when attacking the McCain/Palin record. But the entire segment, including the previous comments leading up to the insensitive "pig" line, are almost word for word from the Tom Toles cartoon form the 5th.

Transcript:

John McCain says he's about change too. Exce- and and so I guess his whole angle is - watch out, George Bush - except for economic policy, healthcare policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl-Rove-style politics, we're really gonna shake things up in Washington.

That's not change.

That's that's just callin' sumpin' the same thing somethin' different.

But you know, you can't, you know, you you can put, ah, lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.

And now for the cartoon...

You can see for yourself that the entire segment before his "pig" quip matches the Toles cartoon exactly.

So, now we have a few points to ponder. Will the Obama campaign admit that this whole bit was lifted from Tom Toles? And are we to understand that the Obama campaign is now being programmed by cartoons?

See ya in the funny papers, Barack....

I'm surprised that more has not been made of this. It is blatantly obvious.

Someone should tell him and put him out of his misery.

The pig remark was on his mind and he let it slip out. This turd tries to hide who he really is, and this kind of jackass will get this Country in trouble if elected. He is a slow thinker without his memorized talking points.

So he can’t even come up with a political quip on his own?

At least now we know why he felt a kinship with Biden. :-)

Congrats to the Freeper who spotted it.

Can anyone verify that it wasn't Toles that stole this spiel from one of Zero's previous canned speeches, rather than the messiah (small m) stealing from him?
If he had used the line before, sans the lipstick comment, it would reinforce the case that he interjected the pig/lipstick slam intentionally and with malice.

Watch Daved Letterman tonight. Obama is going to be on tonight and the transcript is already out because they tape it at 5PM est. In the transcript from the show Obama goes on and tries to explain “again” why he said the pig comment and he has changed his story again. This GAFF Clown is too good to be true.

Nope. He will not attribute. He’s a serial plagiarist. “Yes we can” is a phrase lifted from a children’s show (Bob the Builder). Recently, he said “Words mean things,” which he got from Rush Limbaugh. I recall even seeing a pig with lip sticks cartoon right here on FR last Wednesday, when she made her speech. I bet the deeper you delve, the more outright rip-offs you find. Small wonder that his running mate is Joe-crib-notes Biden.

Best not to use all caps on misspelled words.

One thing I have not seen mentioned regarding The One’s statement is that he faltered when he first dived into the “lipstick” remark. At first he started to say “You can’t...” then caught himself and said, “You can put...”. To me that seemed that it was a memorized remark and he went off script, and thus intentionally demeaning. If it had been an off-the-cuff innocent remark he would not have stumbled over it.

It was stolen - word for word, and I was disappointed Rush didn’t deal with it today.
