A bright young student recently asked me this question in defense of her Messiah, Barack Hussein Obama...Mr. Williams, my family name is Irish. Does that make me a terrorist member of the IRA?
After pointing out that she had made no effort to hide her ancestry, I answered, No, but it does make you Irish.

The Real Point
What do all of these facts mean in the real world where such an individual is seeking the most powerful political office in the world?
Based upon the belief that 90 percent of the worlds billion-plus Muslim population is peaceful, does it matter whether or not Barack Obama is Muslim? That depends upon whether he is one of the 90 percent or one of the 10 percent.
(snip)
If he is an Arab and a Muslim, does that automatically mean that he is a terrorist or even a terrorist sympathizer? No, it doesnt...
But combined, what all of it does mean is this, - there are some very reasonable questions that should be asked and answered before the American people actually consider such an individual for the job of Commander-in-Chief, especially while the nation is at war with radical elements of the Arab-Muslim world.
It means that if the press avoids asking those questions, they are derelict in their primary purpose of keeping the public informed. Their only task during an election cycle is to help the American people know as much as possible about those who seek to run their nation. If they wont ask the questions, then they arent doing their job.

This story may take Obama down and out of political office altogether!
I hope they keep digging until they have all the pieces in place. This story has massive implications!
I’ve heard him state in speeches that “Barack” is African or swalhi for “peace”, but it’s actually MUSLIM for “peace”.
The mantra that 90% of muslims are peaceful is not borne out
by history. For 800 years the muslims conquered India using
weapons and war.
Yet the muslim population never exceeded 15% of total.
There is no way 90% of that 15% were peaceful, because
that boils down to 1.5% of population held sway over 85%
of non-muslims.
The only event which stopped muslim rule in India was when
the Hindu warlord Shivaji defeated muslim rulers militarily.
Other Coincidences of Interest
Obamas Arab name and Muslim heritage by itself, only raises the need for further query. It leads us to no automatic conclusions.
Instead, it leads only to a list of reasonable questions that anyone seeking the power of the Oval Office must be willing to answer. Any candidate, except Obama, with the same background should and would be asked the exact same questions. But, its apparently an act of racism to ask Americas first black candidate the most glaringly obvious questions.
▪ How did you get an Arab name and why dont you want to talk about it?
▪ How did someone from such meager beginnings afford Occidental, Columbia and Harvard without ever holding down a paying job?
▪ Who is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour (aka Donald Warden)? When did you meet him and how has he played a role in your life?
▪ Were you ever part of the Black Panther or Saul Alinsky community organizing effort?
▪ When and where did you first become close friends with convicted Weatherman terrorist William Ayers, who obviously helped you launch your political career in his Chicago home?
▪ Who is Saul Alinsky and what did he teach you about community organizing?
▪ Who are the seventy five billionaire bundlers and who gave them the millions to finance your bid for the White House?
▪ Who is Mohammed Hasan Chandoo and why did you spend three weeks with him in Pakistan in the early 80s, under your Indonesian name and passport?
▪ Why did Percy Sutton write a letter to help you get into Harvard? If it wasnt Dr. Khalid al-Mansour who asked him to write the letter, who was it?
These are just a few of the questions candidate Obama should be happy to lay to rest with open and direct answers. Though nobody in the lamestream press is asking yet, a few in the New Media are asking the right questions....
An innocent March 08 TV interview with community organizer become millionaire political powerhouse, Percy Sutton, caught the attention of more than a few investigative journalists by late August.
NewsMax journalist Kenneth Timmerman is turning over all the right rocks and asking all the right questions. Sooner or later, someone is going to find answers to questions which Obama appears to have been avoiding for years.
On September 3rd, Timmerman wrote Obama Had Close Ties to Top Saudi Adviser at Early Age followed by a September 4th piece titled Who is Khalid al-Mansour?
It seems that Timmerman is on the right trail. The fact that related Internet files are being sanitized or removed altogether as fast as they can be found, only proves that somebody with lots of power somewhere recognizes that Timmerman is getting too close for comfort...
http://kennethelamb.blogspot.com/2008/02/barak-obama-questions-about-ethnic.html
excerpt:
...Here is the truth about Mr. Obama’s name, and his father’s ancestors:
True Negro tribal members of western Kenya where his father was born have Christian names, not Arabic. His father’s decision to name him with an Arabic name is a matter of his father establishing his ethnic identity in Africa - it is done deliberately to separate him from the African tribes. He may live among them, but he is not one of them. His father’s message is that he is Arabic, not Negro.
Many will find these truths unsettling. I’m often asked, “But I thought his father was Kenyan. How could Mr. Obama not be African-American, how could his ethnic composition be so Arabic?”
The definitive clue to that answer is to look at his name, his father’s name, and the names of all his ancestors on his father’s side. They are all Arabic.
Researching his roots reveal that on his father’s side, he is descended from Arab slave traders. They operated under an extended grant from Queen Victoria, who gave them the right to continue the slave trade in exchange for helping the British defeat the Madhi Army in southern Sudan and the Upper Nile region. Funny how circular is history; now the British again face the Madhi Army, albeit this time Shiite, not Sunni, as in nineteenth century Sudan.
But telling America’s black community that while their ancestors were breaking the shackles of slavery, Mr. Obama’s ancestors were placing those shackles upon their wrists would hardly play as an Oprah Winfrey best-seller...
“but its actually MUSLIM for peace
Muslim is a language?
"Arab" is a racial and language subgroup. Not all Muslims are Arabs, and not all Arabs are Muslims. The number of ethnic-Arab and Arabic-speaking Christians worldwide is approximately 20 million.
"Muslim" is a religious designation, not a language and not a racial or national identity. There are hundreds of millions of non-Arab Muslims, including the vast majority of the populations on Iran (Persians) and Indonesia (Javanese, Sundanese, etc.) plus many millions of Asian, European, and African Muslims.
Barack Obama is absolutely, positively non Arab by ethnicity or language. Whatever affinity he has with Islam remain to be seen.
I wrote a letter to editor of my local paper about Obama and ran spell check before I sent it. Box popped up and said Obama not in dictionary, suggested replacement was Osama. I kid you not. My jaw just dropped.
LOL! MS Word used to want to correct Taliban as tailbone.
When I go to the link I assume at the top of the page, that is BHo written in Arabic, is that right?
How come we don’t see this name version on campaign signs at his rallies, are there no proud Muslims in attendance?
Is there polling on muslim or arab americans yet for this election? I had head that they try and show solidarity and vote as a block.
This is stupid. Barack Obama is NOT an Arab. He is half-Luo (who didn’t tend to mix with the Arabs) and half-white American (English and Scottish). Nevertheless, the left-side-of-the-bell-curve portion of the electorate that is not black will probably believe that he prays to mecca three times a day. These internet rumors, as idiotic as they are, are nevertheless good for McCain.
That won't stop the Left Behind reading paranoid female in the hinterland from thinking the Barack is an "Arab." This is good for McCain (and therefore good for our side).
“Barack Obama is absolutely, positively non Arab by ethnicity or language. Whatever affinity he has with Islam remain to be seen.”
I strongly suggest that you do more research. You are making absolute statements without proper foundation.
Quick... someone make the campaign sign!
Who writes a memoir about having done nothing, talking about the influence of a father he never knew?
No, it is from my knowledge of the history of Kenya, and basic ethnicity/biology. This is purely for the tin foil/Pop Religion crowd.
As the author states pretty clearly, this is not about skin color, nationality or religion.
It is about two very important questions...
1) Who is this guy, really?
2) Who is his puppet master?
The empty suit is quite obviously a puppet hiding from his past. People who hide usually have something to hide... In this case, it is the puppet master who is being hidden.
His name is Khalid al-Mansour (aka Donald Warden).
Learn who and what this man is and you will know who and what Obama is.
Once Americans figure it all out, he won’t be welcome in the WH or the Senate.
Nope... its from historical facts.
Again... stop assuming and start researching.
No, the horse is buraq. Different word.
I am done with this thread. I believe that as silly as these rumors are, they will be more than helpful for McCain.
Where would Obama have spoken the Arabic language? Though he may have learned to read the Koran in Arabic (maybe), in Indonesia they would have spoken Bahasa/Malay or Javanese.
If, on the other hand, you're speaking of religious affiliation, he recited the Shahada as a child, and was classified as Muslim in Indonesia because the head-of-household (Soetoro) was Muslim. Some would consider that as defining membership in the Muslim millah (as a sociological community), but not necessarily the Muslim ummah (as a faith commitment).
Which is it?

He’s African, not Arabic
Not only that, he is not even an “Afro-Arab.” Obama Sr. was a Luo, who were not known to intermix with the Arabs. Methinks the poster of this dribble, while a nice person, has religion and ethnicity confused.
Barack is Swahili too. They have a lot of loan words from Arabic & this is one of them. Even the word Swahili is derived from an Arabic word.
LOL maybe I’m just one of mean-spirited Arabaphobes. Is that the right word?
Thanks for your post. I was ignorant of this. There was a similar incident that stopped the conquest of Europe by Muslims in 712 - The Battle of Tours and Poiters.
you would benefit from a little research on the history of the Omani arabs in Kenya. Arab-muslim (rulers and slave traders) intermarried with the indigenous peoples, and as the female line doesn't count in islam, there are no lack of blacks in Kenya who claim arab descent - just as there are black arab muslims living in Oman itself. Most are descendants of black slaves but they identify themselves as arabs through the male line, none-the-less.
It's difficult for me to understand why you included the matter of laguage in your comment. obama learned the koran by rote whilst in school in Indonesia. The koran is written in an archaic arabic that even arabic speaking peoples do not fully understand.
Please explain why this is relevant. (I'm not discounting the possibility that some tenuous Arab connection may be a matter of great significance to the Luo.)
BTTT
To obama's male ancestry the arab connection would be extremely important. It 'proves' superiority over the indigenous peoples.
That's fine. That makes Obama an Arab as much as my son Ben is a Cherokee: that'd be 9/16 German, 6/16 British Isles, 1/16 Cherokee (since on his dad's side, his granddaddy's grandmama was a Cherokee.)
I think you've fallen into the trap carefully set up by the obama camp...the question of race and its political-correctness connotations. The obama myth needs him to be accepted as an African-American - which he is not! Your own sensitivities regarding ethnicity are thereby being exploited.
Please explain why this is relevant.
It is relevant because we are entitled to know WHO AND WHAT the candidate IS. His entire background should be totally open and visible for all to see.
Who is باراك حسين اوباما ? And Why Wont the Press Ask?

Got my marker ready to FReep this punk!

You are forgetting the multiple results when translating from the Arabic script to English.

This Iranian site contains a photograph of a mural which appears to depict Mohammed (sixth picture down) on a contemporary building in Iran. The mural shows Buraq (the animal that carried Mohammed on his Night Voyage, described as being white and having the face of a woman and the tail of a peacock, which this creature is and does) carrying a figure who could therefore only be Mohammed. A word-for-word transliteration of the Farsi caption to that picture is (according to this automated translation site), "The Messenger mounted mainland shiny door village (yzdlaan) (kvyry) village blinds to ascension wine river," which obviously doesn't translate well but which does make mention of "The Messenger," a traditional epithet for Mohammed (as the messenger of Allah). Note: this image is hosted on the Web site of the Iranian newspaper Hamshahri, which is sponsoring a contest of cartoons about the Holocaust as an outraged reponse to the publication of the Mohammed cartoons in the West. Yet the newspaper itself is currently displaying this depiction of Mohammed. (This image also on the newspaper's site appears to be a contemporary image of Mohammed as well.)
What am I asserting?

His father comes from an Arab line of Arab slave traders...
He gave his son his Arab name. If you think that makes him “African,” so be it.
I wish folks would do real resarch instead of Googling and reading Obama propaganda all over the web.
He is NOT “black.” If he is exactly what he says he is, he still isn’t black.
But none of this is the point, it is only pieces of a much larger puzzle.
Before it’s over, everyone will know who and what he is. But he has spent years hiding it and THAT is the issue.
Martian too...
Or, you can go on the net and use a pen-name.
The United States is the world's greatest repository of people whose ethnicity differs from their names. For example Todd Palin, Sarahcuda's "first dude", is of mixed ancestry ~ part Eskimo, part Finn, part some other things ~ maybe 30 or 40 other things, really, and that "Todd" part of his name does not turn him into a member of Phi Psi!
you mean as you did: muawiyah
Muawiya ibn Abu Sufyan (died 680) was the founder of the Umayyad dynasty of caliphs. His clan, which had resisted Mohammed and his message longest and most vehemently, eventually won political control over the Islamic community. As son of Abu Sufyan, one of the leaders of the Meccan opposition to Mohammed, Muawiya did not adopt Islam until the conquest of Mecca in 630. Muawiya at this time was made secretary to the Prophet...
Thus someone with 'baraka' is blessed...but the poor fools who follow him are cursed. The expression is used in the book to describe the 'mahdi' :
When Mahommed Ahmed, a Dongolese, proclaimed himself the long-looked-for Mahdi (guide) of Islam, he found most of his original followers among the grossly superstitious villagers of Kordofan, to whom he preached universal equality and a community of goods...
“His father comes from an Arab line of Arab slave traders...”
That’s a lie. You need to educate yourself. Ignorance is not a virtue
Many Caucasions, and all Armenians, speak Indo-European languages in fact.
Today, one hears the delibrate or ignorant misuse and abuse of the word Arab for political purposes unconnected with the real history of the people and culture. Arab now represents a diversity of which the pale-skin type lays claim to predominance. Yet, it can not be forgotten that the original authentic Arabs were Black men and women from Africa. The children of Kush and Nimrod; the Ethiopians who emigrated to the lands of Yemen and Hadramut and Mesopotamia.
Even in these days of rank misinformation, the black skin Arabs still maintain a numerical edge over the Arabized pale skin types of today (mixed blood descendants of the Kurds, the Persians and the Turks with African Arabs). When the African Arabs (most of who claim a legitimate link to Black Yemen) are factored in with the remnants of the Black skinned Arabs of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, and Kuwait, the Black Arabs of today still predominate in number and in importance, in the Arab world. That predominance is not accidental. It is a historical thread which remains valid even in these inauspicious post-modern times. Yes, but times come and times go, and yet the Black Arabs will remain.
