Potatoe. They handed him a card with the "correct" spelling of a word. When it came up in the spelling bee, he believed the card, and called the word, as spelled by the contestant, wrong. Within the day, it was the lead story on national news, all three networks. Then they harped on it and harped on it until they had, for all intents and purposes, destroyed the man's career as a politician. Of course, you could debate whether or not it was planned this way, but in my opinion, it was a trap, and it worked.
They did this to the Vice President of the United States, and he was a Republican. Of course, being a Republican makes it OK. And if Obama gets elected, I'm going to report all the liberals to the Secret Police. I will remember who they are.
