Obama: Lipstick on a Pig (Did he just call Sarah Palin a pig and a stinky fish?)
Politico ^ | Tuesday, September 9, 2008 | Ben Smith

Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.

"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."

"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

"We've had enough of the same old thing."

The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."

Bottom line is this, regardless of what Obama may have meant, this is a big distraction for him. He is already off message, floundering around, grasping as trivial issues.

This will run the 24-48 hour news cycle. Obama or his hackeys in the press will have to come out and defend him. Which just gets the story out to more people.

This is a HUGE distraction, when he is already on the ropes.

I’ll bet you Obama apologizes before end of day Wednesday.

Wow,,,,it's not like Biden doesn't have that type of plagiarism experience!! Someone in the media needs to pick up on this one.

Hussein must be using Biden as his speechwriter!!

If we can get some small McCain-Palin stickers and some cheap $1 Store lipsticks (or lip balms), we could make a novelty item for folks to show their solidarity with Gov. Palin and distaste for Obama-Biden’s boorish comments.

And it's appalling to think that this creep could become our President.

Hi Miss Didi. Yes, it's extremely appalling the Dems care so little for the country that they actually nominated Obama. Even leaving partisanship totally aside, everything about the man screams danger. Just the fact that, after he graduated from Harvard Law School, he took a job as a "lecturer" at a university, then spent most of his time on that job in Bali, supposedly writing a memoir. I mean, what normal person follows up getting a prestigious degree in such a manner, writing a memoir when he has barely started his career? That's just too weird. And that's just one of the many enormous red flags in this guy's background.

Yeah, I think the campaign needs to keep some distance while still demanding apologies etc. But maybe Governor Palin herself should take a dig with a smile, say something like “I said a pitbull, Senator Obama, a PITBULL.”

Put him on the spot, but without any hint of complaint or whining from Sarah Palin. She could skewer him on this with a smile, and he will be humiliated. Then maybe the MSM will start talking about it.

That would put some pressure on while treating it deftly.... it generally cannnot do any good for Rs to scream and yell about it b/c the MSM is mainly looking for how to protect Obama, especially now that he is flailing. They will never do what they did to George Allen unless the pressure explodes first from the blogosphere, etc. Few in the MSM will ever willingly take this seriously without enormous, irresistible pressure that has to build.

WOW, that’s great.... a great ad like that could really take off..... Obama’s team would really be flailing to try to counter that one!

I’ll bet you Obama apologizes before end of day Wednesday.

I'm sure it will be the typical "non-apology apology", "I'm sorry if my words were taken out of context....blah blah blah..."

I wear lipstick everyday and have a few that are about gone. Great idea. A little packing tape ought to adhere that baby to my bumpersticker. Yeah!

Should have clicked on the 2nd link before the last post to you.

I always had a feeling that story came straight out of the Obama camp - this is just a bit more info that makes me lean towards that position.

The guys a scumbag, no other way around it.
