Canadians have a friend in CBC columnist Heather Mallick — even if they don’t know it: Her latest column for the Ceeb’s web site is so appalling that it might finally convince whoever is elected on October 14 to clean house at 25 John Street.
A subtle, pervasive left-wing tilt in news coverage is one thing — CBC viewers and listeners are used to that. But over-the-top anti-American hate speech, coming on top of Neil Macdonald’s disgraceful spouting of debunked Sarah Palin conspiracy theories on The National last week, is another. The only advantages the taxpayer-funded CBC has in today’s crowded media market are professionalism and staid credibility. Yet Macdonald and Mallick are turning the broadcaster into just another left-wing blog. Why, exactly, should Canadians be paying $1-billion for agitprop they can get from DailyKos.com or Rabble.ca?
Mallick’s column — “A mighty wind blows through Republican convention” — advances two theses: (1) That John McCain’s selection of 44-year-old Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his VP nominee was a crass gesture meant to appease the party’s “rural,” “unlettered” “white trash” base; and (2) that Palin herself is a tacky, badly dressed redneck who looks like a “porn actress.”
Then comes the coup de grace — Mallick’s assault on Palin’s family: “[17-year-old] Bristol has what is known in Britain as the look of the teen mum, the ‘pramface.’ Husband Todd looks like a roughneck; Track, heading off to Iraq, appears terrified. They claim to be family-obsessed while being studiously terrible at parenting. What normal father would want Levi ‘I’m a f--kin’ redneck’ Johnson prodding his daughter?”

You Canadians are very fortunate if that is ALL the left wing bias you have to put up with.... (”subtle”, “tilt” ????). Here in the US, the old, dying mainstream media is of course, by default, heavily leftist in their orientation.
That would explain why the CBC hired her.
I guess if the Bristol was bisexual and ended up having unprotected sex in a 3-some and got pregnant, then had an abortion...she would be praised for her “diversity” and “progressive thinking”.
No wonder the Muslims are running roughshod over the UK and Britain...and all they do is call Palin a hick and hooker...when she (Palin) represents the only barrier between a suicide bomb and their lives?

She is interested in supporting Sarah in ways I have never seen in 24 years.

The more Sarah is dissed and hounded, the madder she becomes.
This is an intelligent, well-educated, childless woman-- and she is adamant about voting for Sarah, and seeing her reach higher office.

I am currently in liberal Nova Scotia and I can tell you people here are mad about Sarah. They love her. They say she is one of the few politicians that is really one of the people. I have been totally shocked by the reaction and thoroughly pleased. And the more the press trashes her the more they love her here. So keep it up “has been media.” You are going to get McCain and Palin elected.

The CBC, CTV/Globe media, Global.....they are our versions of NPR, CNN, and ABCCBSNBC.
It is starting to look like we have finally succeeded in making the words "liberal", and "socialist", have the negative resonance they should have.
