McCain camp says Biden 'sunk to a new low' [Biden/Obama care more about special needs kids]

(CNN) — John McCain's campaign hit back hard at Joe Biden Tuesday after the Democratic VP candidate appeared to suggest Republicans who do not support stem cell research — like GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin — are lacking in their support of children with disabilities.

“Barack Obama’s running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more about special needs children," McCain-Palin spokesman Ben Porritt said. "Playing politics with this issue is disturbing and indicative of a desperate campaign."

The sharp response, indicative of the increasingly heated rhetoric from both presidential campaigns as the election enters the final stretch, came shortly after Biden said advocates for people with disabilities should support stem cell research.

Biden did not mention Palin — the mother of a baby with Down syndrome, and someone who has said she will be a “friend and advocate in the White House" to parents of children with disabilities — but seemed to direct a question to her.

Biden questions GOP disability advocates on stem cell research

COLUMBIA, Missouri (CNN) – Joe Biden suggested Tuesday that advocates for people with disabilities should “support stem cell research” — a remark that follows repeated pledges from Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin, the mother of a baby with Down Syndrome, to parents of children with disabilities that she would be “a friend and advocate in the White House.”

When asked about the issue at a Tuesday rally, Biden did not mention Palin’s name, but seemed to direct a question to her.

“I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have both the joy…and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability, who were born with a birth defect,” he said. “Well, guess what folks? If you care about it, why don't you support stem cell research?”

This again? They have already proven that the best stem cells come from the afterbirth. That the stem cells from the murdered children have little or no value

Stem cell research can remove extra chromosomes? Wow, you learn something new every day!

Biden may have gotten applause at the rally and a ego boost but he’s a buffoon if he thought this wasn’t going to backfire...what a DOLT.

With Sarah in the White House families of those with special needs will have an advocate. With Plugs in the White House abortion mills will have an advocate.

If these shrill little people on the left care so much about these children maybe they all need to adopt one.

They love down syndrome children so much that they’ll prevent 90% of them from even being born.

Credit Card Joe is wrong on this like he is wrong on abortion. Fetal stem cell research has yielded nothing while adult stem cells and other cellular research is already paying off. He has to push fetal stem cells to perpetuate the lie of the pro-aborts that "it is just the product of conception."

Democrats care for special needs kids? One of the first programs fast Eddie Rendell cut was funding for special needs folks. Here in Westmoreland county (PA) the young lady handling my daughters case told me that no money has come from Harrisburg. Period.

Biden is a jackass. Science will tell you cord blook and cells are the best and richest. Has nothing to do with human embryos. McCain is right, he has sunk to a new low.

Funny that they’re banging the drums for ESCR when adult stem cells are the only ones showing promise in research.

I think you have it bassbackwards. Adult Stem Cell Research has produced ZERO results that benefit mankind. It is the Fetal Stem Cells that have yielded very successful results.

Whew, I thought JB, who lately has been doing a great impersonation of the invisible man, was gonna be muzzled. Thankfully, he is still out there (multiple meanings) gnawing on his Florsheims.
