Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has accepted an invitation from San Franciscos archbishop to discuss whether she should continue to receive communion at the Catholic Church in the wake of comments she made about abortion.
San Francisco Archbishop George H. Niederauer said he had received letters and e-mails from many Catholics expressing dismay over Pelosis remarks, in which she said the matter of when life begins remained controversial within the church. He said many of them questioned whether she should be able to receive communion from the church.

Pelosi will grant the Archbishop permission to continue give communion so long as he retracts his comments and apologises...

If Nancy sicced the IRS non the church, she would have a PR nightmare on her hands.

Back up a second here. The most powerful pro-abortion politician in the country has been receiving communion from this archbishop?

Back up a second here. The most powerful pro-abortion politician in the country has been receiving communion from this archbishop? Personally, I don't know, but most likely in the Archbishop's diocese. Pelosi's Pastor should be required to attend this meeting as well.
When Obama picked Biden, I told my wife, the DIMS just don't know how big of a mistake they really made.

Hopefully Archbishop Niederauer will be as outspoken with Pelosi as others have been in the Catholic hierarchy. She’s entitled to her own beliefs but she is not entitled to dictate the beliefs of the Catholic Church.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has accepted an invitation from San Franciscos archbishop to discuss whether she should continue to receive communion at the Catholic Church in the wake of comments she made about abortion. DISCUSS IT??? Are you kidding me?
Did Neiderauer ever give his written statement of all this? I think it was expected out last week.

I wrote the Pope last week about her and what she was doing to the Church here in the States and reminding him that public excommunication would either bring her to her senses (along with Kennedy, Biden and Kerry, among others) or at least keep her out of the media as a Catholic. Since she states that her Catholic faith means so much to her, hopefully she will recant her Choice/Abortion stance and return to the Church justifiably humbled.
It could happen. Maybe.

Yes, the statement was issued last week. After re-iterating Church teaching he "invited" Pelosi for a discussion.
It was a public summons, in other words.
And yes, the Church insists upon a trial before a sentencing, so to speak. He has to give her an opportunity to appear before him, so he can correct her and see if she is willing to submit to correct teaching.
That's how these things are done.

He should collar Biden as well. He is not Biden's bishop. Jurisdiction counts.

SD, how long as Nancy Pelosi been a member of Neiderauer's diocese, lining up for communion? And how long has she been public about her support for abortion? In addition to her recent elevation to theologian, that is. Do you really believe this "discussion" is going to result in any change to the status quo?
I get that there are processes, but I seriously doubt Nancypants is a bit concerned that her Catholic bragging rights are going to rescinded. I'm sorry, but this issue absolutely infuriates me. I don't pretend to be Catholic of the Year, but seeing these braying donkeys continue to make a mockery out of one of the most basic tenets of the faith is a scandal that simply has to stop.

I’m not predicting an excommunication, but it is refreshing to see some backbone. Since Nancy overstepped her bounds, I expect her to eventually issue an apology for misrepresenting Church teaching.
Then the status quo ante will resume, but at least we will know there is a line which should not be crossed. Then it will be a question of moving the line to where it should be.

Comments about abortion?
What about her **VOTES*** regarding abortion?????
Her votes alone should have had her excommunicated long ago.
