ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Sen. Barack Obama's foes seized Sunday upon a brief slip of the tongue, when the Democratic presidential nominee was outlining his Christianity but accidentally said, "my Muslim faith."
The three words -- immediately corrected -- were during an exchange with ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week," when he was trying to criticize the quiet smear campaign suggesting he is a Muslim.
But illustrating the difficulty of preventing false rumors about his faith from spreading, anti-Obama groups within one hour of the interview had sliced it out of context and were sending it around via email. They also were blogging about it.
Mr. Obama, who is a Christian and often proudly speaks about how his faith has influenced his public service, said he finds it "deeply offensive" that there are efforts "coming out of the Republican camp to suggest that perhaps I'm not who I say I am when it comes to my faith."

I recently returned from Pakistan and Oman... all the locals I spoke with believe and know that Obama is a muslim. There is no doubt in their minds. Obama can say all he wants that he is not muslim... but Barack Hussein Obama had a muslim father therefore he is muslim.

I am with you 1000% on that statement. Can we get an “allah is great” or whatever suffices for “Amen” in Islam?
I plan on getting this video to everyone I know with a minimum of comment. They can judge it for themselves. I know I did.
Unlike to 100 or so deafeningly loud smear campaigns the dems have going on Palin. The have blown out both my eardrums.
In a recent interview that appeared in People Magazine Michelle revealed that their family did not exchange Christmas presents nor give birthday presents, not even to the children.
Jehovah’s witnesses don’t do this - guess which other religion doesn’t...

“Out of context” here obviously means they don’t like it that it happened. S they should provide the “context” to show us how wrong we are in hearing what what we hear. Actually I can’t figure out any but a highly stilted and contorted verbal “context” that might render the quote harmless and there is enough before the slip to preclude much saving context and Stephanopolous’(sp?) correction immediately after shows again that “context” won’t save him.

You bet it happened. Supposedly he was talking about McCain not calling him a muslim(although he had said earlier that McCain had called him a muslim)but what he said was “McCain hasn’t mentioned....my,my muslim faith and then the interviewer corrected him on it.
The word "al-Taqiyya" literally means: "Concealing or disguising one's beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies at a time of imminent danger, whether now or later in time, to save oneself from physical and/or mental injury." A one-word translation would be "Dissimulation."
The press is absent as usual...can we call this muslim-gate?
Yes, and the proudest moment of his life is when his brother converted to ISLAM, and the prettiest words on earth are the MUSLIM call to prayer which is also the MUSLIM creed, and he never “practiced” Islam although he went to MOSQUE, memorized the QURAN, and studied ISLAM in Indonesia, and his favorite friends and contributors are HAMAS and other MUSLIMS, and he chooses to live in the same neighborhood as Nation of ISLAM’s leader. Just a paranoid delusion of those who are “clinging to their guns and religion.” Nothing to see here. Move along.
The real question is this:
Would YOU have made this mistake and talking about YOUR Muslim Faith?
“Potatoe” has no implications about one’s character or consequences for one’s accession to office. “My Muslim faith...” has implications.
I don’t like Obama but I think he is getting a bum rap on this one. (ducking while you hurl things at me).
He didn’t have a telepromter. He was trying to explain something and was getting it screwed up. George tried to help him but only screwed it up more because it makes no sense to insert the words “christian faith” in to the sentence.
Is he a closet Muslim?

He was definitely a Muslim at one point.
But after hearing the whole excerpt I really think he was trying to communicate something and was just inept at doing so.

A world leader, leader of another nation, says that Obama is a muslim brother, and that he is lying about many things! Now the newsmedia certainly put the Leader of France’s comment on Obama, on tv. Why not Libya’s?

The short clip can be run for effect, then a much longer clip can be run for ‘context.” It won’t help him.If we push it hard enough maybe KOS will start running declarations that Hussein is not a Moslem but even if he were, it wouldn’t matter and maybe it would be good for “diversity.”

See, they think where not listening. Obama and Joe can’t remember what they said yesterday. This is getting better by the minute
