What a difference a few hours make. It is almost like Sally Quinn was blinded by the light of truth on the road to Damascus. On CNN's "American Morning" on Friday, Quinn repeated her doubts as to whether Sarah Palin could "put country first" due to her family reponsibilities as a mother:
Well, something must have happened in the few hours between Quinn's CNN appearance and her apology for her own statements like this on Fox's O'Reilly Factor later that day:Everyone woman I know practically is a working mother. We have conflicts and guilts that men simply don't have. And, basically the burden of raising children falls on the mother, no matter what kind of a job she has. So, I think that to, you know, we're so far beyond the feminist argument here. This is not about feminism, it's not about sexism, it's simply about can you do the job? One of the things I noticed over this last convention is John McCain, they must have said it 1,000 times, I put my country first. He put his country first. And I think if you're talking about the commander in chief and that is what she is likely to be given his age and his health. Will she put her country first, or will she put her family first?

Fear. Fear of being transparently illogical, ridiculous, and a cranky feminazi in the face of the Conservative Vice Presidential Candidate.
That, or this lady does not want to be left off (possibly) the White House Guest lists for a long, long time.
Sally Quinn is a true believer. She didn't think Palin was incapable in the first place -- just unacceptable -- and she hasn't changed her mind.

I think you are exactly right. At the moment, 40 million people think she's great. Even more will do so, among those who missed her speech, after reading all of the positive reviews and by word of mouth.
The Democrats have to try to smear her indirectly, through the media, before they can gain any traction. And even the media has to be careful, because all of the vicious attacks which preceded Sarah's speech definitely caused a backlash with the American public.
Like a lot of worthless RATs, she's probably jumping off the sinking SS Obama to the solid terra firma of the Palin continent.
Not only that, but she's probably one of the Keepers of the Tablets.
when it is a choice between her infant son and the responsibility of her potential elected office, it is pretty obvious she is going to put work first. Anything else would be betrayal of the trust of taxpayers (and voters).
Flame away - this woman knew very well the deal before accepting the VP offer with a newborn in arms, and has planned accordingly. There is no such thing as a full-time mom and full-time vice-president in the same person.

lol no she isn’t here, but the thought of a person with a 4-month old significantly impaired infant deciding to campaign for a job that will consume her life for years isn’t immune to comment. It is a reflection of character, and there is nothing wrong with actually looking at what you are being offered/told to do.
Change the party tags and imagine how members of this forum would react to Obama’s wife dragging out young’uns during a campaign speech, particularly a newborn with downs syndrome.
The comment are unlikely to be flattering.
She must have gotten at least one or two emails complaining about her little meltdown, like maybe 10,000 or so. Supposedly Us magazine lost at least that many subscribers over their cover picture.
You can p*ss off all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all of the time, but you can’t p*ss off half of the nation all of the time, because you sell a newspaper and your sales are already dropping like a stone.
They will go more subtle for a while: tell lies by omission, distort small things, show the least flattering pictures, play the least commanding sound-bites, look for negative testimonials they can slip in here and there. Meanwhile the heavy investigative journalists (the people they should have sent out to begin with, instead of US Weekly) will be digging for all their worth.
They'll also do a huge expectation build-up to the Biden debate: it will actually look like it's positive to the naive observer. Then if she has a so-so performance they'll unload with talking heads who announce that the lack of experience was "really on display." If she has a great performance, they'll be able to say, "about what we expected."

I saw the interview with O’Reilly and it didn’t sound like much of a “turnaround” to me.

What DID NOT HAPPEN: She is truly sorry and wrong.
What DID HAPPEN: She and her evil cabal realized their attacks were generating huge blowback and were a huge mistake.

My wife has been able to let me take on more domestics, including childcare, when her her ability to make more money and advance her career was at a threshold. We’ve been very fortunate and we both spend more time with our kids.
Possibly one of the biggest problems that we have is that my wife becomes jealous when she finds how good I am at the traditional mother’s jobs; mostly nurturing our kids. How olde fashioned. ;0)
Granted, it’s not VP of the US, but I have no doubt it could work. Today we split work and care for children. Life is good.
ANY interviewer with a grain of integrity would immediately throw the comparison of "qualifications" between Palin and Obama right back in the face of the talking-point rat they are interviewing. Not surprisingly, I didn't hear O'Reilly do that (although I could have missed it).
