Gov. Sarah Palin is taking the wrong approach to Troopergate. She should be practicing the open and transparent, ethical and accountable government she promised when running for governor and boasts about now that she's on the national stage.
Instead, Gov. Palin has begun stonewalling the Legislature's attempt to get the bottom of allegations that she, her family or staff violated ethical or state personnel rules.
As a result, the Troopergate allegations hang over Palin's future and cloud her candidacy for vice president....

I read here that she has herself called for an ethics investigation into this matter. How can this be construed as a “stall”?
My reaction to that remark : HA HA HA HA
Who did the Anchorage Daily editors endorse???
You guessed it: Tony Knowles
Enough with your anti Palin BS.
Holy understatement batman. No mention of Wooten tasering their 11-year old boy. No mention of him drinking on the job. No mention of him poaching a moose. No mention of him threatening to kill Sarah Palin's father.
The cop should have been thrown in jail, but all he got was five day suspension.
The person that should be investigated is Walt Monegan who didn't fire and jail the crooked cop.
The MSM has been stalling in telling the truth to the American people about their candidate, Barack Hussein Obama.
FR is big enough to handle anti-palin conservatives. Just as it can handle the thousands of anti-McCain people.
I would not regard the Anchorage Daily News as conservative. As for the legislature, recall that the Senate leader, Lyda Green, is virulently anti-Palin and the “investigator” has a somewhat cozy relationship with Monegan. Palin is doing the right thing to stall the investigation until after the election. Let’s have no more late-election surprises like we have had since 2000, all instigated against republicans.
I just read her lawyer has been interviewing witnesses in the case. Certainly she's entitled to do that in her defense. She called for the investigation herself, which is a far cry from stonewalling.
It’s a liberal rag. It endorsed Kerry in 04.
she should get this out in the open and use it to her full advantage....guilty or not she was right in seeking the release of a trooper who was caught drinking in a state car never mind admitting tasering an 11-year old...and I haven’t even factored in the threats to her family...
get it out- unless there’s something really sinister it will be a winning issue for her....
if the rat-wingers in Alaska, like that dope French, find her “guilty” all she has to say is “had trooper Wooten gone on to kill someone driving drunk in a trooper car based on his past alcohol use or if he hurt someone recklessly using his gun, the finger would’ve been pointed at me for not connecting the dots....”
The full editorial explains that this would delay the matter until after the election.
I’m definitely pro-Palin, but I got nervous when I heard she’d hired a lawyer. Not because I think it means that there’s something she needs to hide. I worry that she’s now going to be ‘handled’ instead of just acting honestly & naturally. She should have asked them to speed things up so as not to deal with this distraction late in the campaign & she should be forthright with investigators since she told folks to ‘go for it.’
“She should have asked them to speed things up so as not to deal with this distraction late in the campaign”
She did. The head of the investigating legislative committee, a dimocrat, turned her down. Playing politics as usual.
Good grief! She doesn’t want a kangaroo court deciding the case. She is exercising her rights. The best defense is a good offense. Go right after them. Chop them off at the pockets. Politics is war fought without guns. It is a dual to the death. It goes all the way back to the founding of our Republic. Nothing was off the table.
Palin has called for the investigation to be handled by a three party panel, rather than a group of Palin haters, unhappy about her having upset their apple cart! This of course qualifies as a stall.
I’m getting such a kick out of watching the press totally helpless in their quest to get Palin. She’s so popular now that she could probably commit murder and the press couldn’t ruin her. I love it.
Go to hell Steve. Your guy lost. Get over it.
