Ping! Give this article a look over. The author is somewhat long-winded and disorganized but makes some good points. Since Palin is not your average Beltway insider (unlike McCain, Obama, and Biden), there are a lot of unknowns, and it's hard to fill in the blanks with all the spin and disinformation flying around. Hopefully things will become clearer as the dust settles.

Ah, you’re not a fan of Palin, huh?

I think IBD writer is way off on this assessment.
palin has energized the conservative base!

Must be a liberal.

How does a small government pro business advocate result
in a down trend?

Oh come on. That is so ridiculous it’s painful.

Generally, and it’s always been that a democrat government always causes a cautious, sluggish market, a Republican government a more confident one.

Oh, McCain is still McCain, without a doubt. I wouldn't vote for him for any reason, and Palin is quite beside the point (VP means *nothing* to me).

But to suppose that the market skittishness is based solely upon this one factor is quite a stretch.

If anything the outlook for McCain just got a lot *better*, as there can be no question that Republican circles are much more approving of Palin than they would have been with any other candidate.

It is hard to imagine as warm a reception for any of the other *short list* contenders...

Even so, VPs don't win elections, and McCain's donning of the "conservative" personae is a gruesome caricature of the real thing, which is only all the more apparent every time he stands alongside the vibrant Conservatism of Governor Sarah Palin. One wonders how long before the enchantment wears thin.
