WASILLA -- Back in 1996, when she first became mayor, Sarah Palin asked the city librarian if she would be all right with censoring library books should she be asked to do so.
According to news coverage at the time, the librarian said she would definitely not be all right with it. A few months later, the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, got a letter from Palin telling her she was going to be fired. The censorship issue was not mentioned as a reason for the firing. The letter just said the new mayor felt Emmons didnt fully support her and had to go.
Emmons had been city librarian for seven years and was well liked. After a wave of public support for her, Palin relented and let Emmons keep her job....

But if the librarian had placed an intelligent design book in the library, that would have been an ENTIRELY different matter.
More oozing mud being shoveled out at Plain by the MSM as DNC opposition researchers talk to her old political enemies in Wasilla and Anchorage.
This is the the best they got?! What about the time Bristol was late turning in “Horton Hears a Who”?
Is this like how most high school and college libraries are devoid of Bibles, books by Christian scholars, and books by people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Coulter, Savage and others? Or more like banning books that are meant for children but push a political agenda?
Well, let's not let that stop us...
When I told him no he gave me notice.
So to sum up:
No books were banned
No specific books were ever mentioned
A rhetorical question was asked about banning
And the librarian kept her job
End of Story!!!
Summary to save some of you the read: Palin did not ask for any books to be removed. Palin apparently did have some difficult relationships with employees from the era prior to her taking office. Palin did ask what a librarian would do if asked to remove books.
Snarky summary: Reporter goes digging, needs a story to justify expense of travel and food and drink (hic!), publishes article with no harmful facts to Palin but plenty of scare-words.
The librarian was just doing her job.
Paging Tipper Gore, this is your issue.
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
I don’t see anything here. She posed a question, nothing more.
Next?
No bias at all?

Excellent thought! I always have our small town library order any conservative book that I want to read so that others can do the same, otherwise, many good books would never be seen here. Our town is conservative, for the most part, the library admin is totally liberal, go figure.
Professor, her kind of woman doesn’t belong on any committee.
Of course, I shouldn’t tell you this but she advocates dirty books.
Dirty books!
Chaucer!
Rabelais!
Balzac!
And the worst thing
Of course, I shouldn’t tell you this but-
I’ll tell.
The man lived on my street, let me tell.
Stop! I’ll tell.
She made brazen overtures to a man who never had a friend
In this town till she came here.
Oh, yes, that woman made brazen overtures
With a gilt-edged guarantee
She had a golden glint in her eye
And a silver voice with a counterfeit ring
Just melt her down and you’ll reveal
A lump of lead as cold as steel
Here, where a woman’s heart should be!
He left River City the library building
But he left all the books to her
Chaucer!
Rabelais!
Balzac!
Go to hell Steve! We are growing tired of your Shiite.
