Analysis: McCain risks being eclipsed by Palin
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | September 3, 2008 | Carolyn Lockhead

Posted on 09/03/2008 11:24:53 PM PDT by KingofZion

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took a live road test before the entire nation tonight, and she didn't crash.

*** The bigger question could be whether she will outshine the man who put her on the GOP ticket.

Sen. John McCain, who accepts the Republican nomination tonight, has been engulfed by the Palin gale since he plucked the obscure 44-year-old governor from the farthest reaches of the continent to be his running mate. In the five days since, Palin has managed, without doing anything, to steal the focus from both parties' nominees in what was already a historic election. Even Republicans were calling Palin "the hottest ticket on the convention floor" among delegates more interested in her than McCain.

Now an overnight celebrity herself, Palin delivered a homespun justification for her candidacy that sought to hit the touchstones of ordinary voters and play up the likeability quotient that has made her the most popular governor in the United States.

Looking at the signs in the audience declaring, "Hockey Moms 4 Palin," she ad libbed with a smile, "Know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."

Palin came out swinging. She leveled a swipe at Michelle Obama, saying people in small towns "love their country, in good times and bad, and they're always proud of America." She took aim at Obama, saying people in small towns like the one she grew up in "don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening. We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk to us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco." MORE***

Posted only for the humor value. Apparently Palin's speech was so undeniably great, that the left-wing hacks at the Chron are reduced to this type of critique.

Didn’t Reagan say something about not caring who gets the credit?

ROFLMAO! Just yesterday the same liberal idiots were telling us she was an unqualified loser from an Alaska town no one ever heard of. Today, they're telling us she's brighter than John McCain. I'm just laughing so hard!

To the schlemiels at the San Fransisco Chronicle, the mark of a great CEO is to hire people better and smarter than himself.

And I never thought that I would say that about McCain. he has surprised me SO pleasantly ... so far.

That’s funny, they told us yesterday that she was unqualified, plagued by shadowy scandals, and might have to drop out.

The problem with this airhead’s theory is that McCain and Palin will have EXACTLY the same number of votes when they are counted on November 4th. I don’t think Senator McCain is very worried about being “eclipsed.”

This is proof that her speech was a slamdunk. They have nothing bad enough to say about her that wouldn’t just mix with the rest of the liberal noise and they know it. Isn’t it ‘special’ that the SF Chron is so worried about McCain being eclipsed?

.

.

Here’s how I’ve been bumping Palin/Obama threads today.

Sung to the tune of “Oh! Susanna, don’t you cry for me.”

“Oh, no Bama, please don’t lie to me... for I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.”

I come from Minnesota with my laptop on my knee;
I’m goin’ to Free Republic my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left,
the weather it was dry;
The sun so hot I froze to death,
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I come from Minnesota,
with my laptop on my knee.

I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Obama dear,
A-coming down the hill.
The smearing lie was in Duluth,
The tear was in his eye,
Said I, I’m coming for the truth
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.

I fight in my pajamas,
It’s plain for all to see.
I aim to be the next Buckhead;
The media all hate me.
I fell in love with Sarah
When my sister bit a moose.
The Guvnor’s family ate it up
And then they set it loose.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.

She loves her sons, she likes her guns,
and Trigonometry.
The media will jump the shark
When Juan makes history.
Well, JimRob knows she’ll pave the trolls
So controversially,
And Berg will knock Obama down
With friends of Hillary.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.

I soon will be in Hawaii,
And then I’ll look all ‘round,
And when I find his birth record,
I’ll fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find it,
This Freeper’ll surely die,
And when I’m dead and buried,
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you cry for me;
I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee

The best thing about how good she was tonight is she couldn’t be off the ticket now for anything short of murder.

If she's smarter than McCain, we should flip the ticket, eh? The lefties got hit with a 2 by 4 and are trying to figure out an attack line. Oh man, the ground is already shifting!

So touching that this rag from the Land of AIDS would be so concerned for McCain’s candidacy.
They are just looking foolish now.

Journalist who doesn’t understand how good leadership works. I once had a new boss come in who thought he should make sure he had no underlings who could ever “outshine” him. He reminds me a lot of Joe Biden in temperament and egotism, actually.

Needless to say, I and anyone else who had the slightest prospects got the he## out of there, no one good was hired, and the organization ran downhill fast.

I rank this up with risks such as:

“Risking marrying a woman, who’s prettier than you”.
