The VP debate is what will decide whether this pick turns out to be a fiasco or not. I’m really hoping she is going to be able to talk intelligently about relations with Pakistan, social security trust funds and the like. If so, then she can be seen as a strong candidate. If not, then no amount of spin will save McCain. Just telling the truth here- I can’t force myself to unreservedly welcome this choice like so many others here can. It was a huge gamble with candidates like Romney and Jindal out there. Hopefully the gamble will pay off, but we won’t know until the debate.

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me, MITTFAN.
The guy helped usher in universal health care for the first time, resulting in terrible problems there, and had to repent on abortion.
Despite this, I backed the guy for what his current stated “opinions” were.
We've got someone better in Palin. She's not had liberal fiascoes to apologize for, nor had to recant on when life began.
Palin will take Biden’s head off:
She runs marathons,
pulled gill nets for hours from an open-deck Alaskan boat off-shore for her family's business,
has worked through pain and injury on that boat when no help was available,
made the winning shot at the buzzer of the state basketball game while playing with a stress fracture (Obama was a bench warmer on his team),
shoots and dresses out moose in the field,
cheers on her husband in a snowmachine race in -29 degree weather,
won state honors as a high school cross-country runner,
in her office, sits on one of the two grizzly bear skin rugs her father has shot ...
I can imagine her cracking the books and hitting the web like Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum.
