Again, from the NRO post, Noonan says:
I made the case that this is no longer true, that party leaders seem to me stuck in the assumptions of 1988 and 1994, the assumptions that reigned when they were young and coming up ... But, I argued, that’s over, those assumptions are yesterday, the party can no longer assume that its base is utterly in line with the thinking of the American people. And when I said, “It’s over!” — and I said it more than once — that is what I was referring to. I am pretty certain that is exactly what Todd and Murphy understood I was referring to. In the truncated version of the conversation, on the Web, it appears I am saying the McCain campaign is over. I did not say it, and do not think it. In fact, at an on-the-record press symposium on the campaign on Monday,

Peggy ripped on Reagan the same way, before she went to work for him.
She is a great speech writer.

Dear Peggy,
I have always enjoyed your commentary, and the way you came off as erudite and classy - the polar opposite of someone like, say Eleanor Clift.
How sad it is to hear what you really feel once the cameras aren’t rolling, and even sadder to read your public remarks which don’t align.
Since we now know that the opinions coming out of your mouth (in public at least) aren’t necessary how you REALLY feel, but some kind of... oh, let’s say show-for-money, I think we can safely dismiss you as yet-another-meaningless-media-blowhard, pontificating for cash.
Sad

Can I sign my name to that letter as well?

I used to like Noonan. What happened to her? She seems to be so negative and well, unhappy, these days.

The VP debate?

Palin will take Biden’s head off:

She runs marathons,
pulled gill nets for hours from an open-deck Alaskan boat off-shore for her family's business,
has worked through pain and injury on that boat when no help was available,
made the winning shot at the buzzer of the state basketball game while playing with a stress fracture (Obama was a bench warmer on his team),
shoots and dresses out moose in the field,
cheers on her husband in a snowmachine race in -29 degree weather,
won state honors as a high school cross-country runner,
in her office, sits on one of the two grizzly bear skin rugs her father has shot ...

Noonan: "The most qualified? No. I think they wen tfor this-- excuse me -- political bullshit about narratives," she said. "Everytime Republicans do that -- because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at and they blow it."

This is worth an article, spelling out the postmodern "political bullshit about narratives." Particularly with respect to how Democrats also do this. Why backtrack, it's out there now.

For one thing, you assume evangelical Christians will be appalled and left agitated by the circumstances of Mrs. Palin’s daughter. But modern American evangelicals are among the last people who’d judge her harshly. It is the left that is about to go crazy with Puritan judgments; it is the right that is about to show what mellow looks like.

That is so true and hilarious. The MSM does tend to see Christians as being like Pavlov's dog. Ring a sin bell and the Christians will come barking to eat up whatever it is. The MSM hasn't got a clue, and they're too stupid to understand even that.

After The Speech, that old bag Peggy was probably so depressed, she couldn’t even get out of bed this morning.

Hopefully she won't talk about Turkey and Greece as though they were a culinary dilemma. (And I seriously doubt that she'd do such a thing.) :-)

I can imagine her cracking the books and hitting the web like Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum.

Peggy

I'm kind of chuckling. I know you're red with mortification. I do feel for you, we've all had these moments. And I'm looking forward to your next article.
