Just the opposite. This started in 2000, and is a reference to a book by the same name (JimRob wrote the intro). Hillary's media arm had an entire division (later became the New Politics group) who where early adopters of viral marketing techniques for political purposes. One of their strategies where to visit blogs and message boards (as well as face-to-face activities) posing as Conservatives to create doubt and discord.
