Appearing on Tuesday's "Today" show, Republican strategist Mary Matalin slammed the media for its "hair-on-fire" coverage of Sarah Palin's selection as the Republican vice presidential nominee of John McCain. In particular, she corrected a previous segment by David Gregory which asserted that the Alaska governor had hired an attorney to defend herself against an ethics probe into possible attempts to dismiss a state trooper.
Matalin asserted to host Matt Lauer that it wasn't true "that she's hired a lawyer to deal with this trooper issue. The attorney general, state attorney general hired the lawyer." She forcefully added, "That's what they do for the governor. She's an open book on this thing. The press is reacting to these things in sort of a hair-on-fire way because she's new." In his report, Gregory had incorrectly asserted, that Palin "revealed" she had hired the lawyer.

Apparently the trooper used his taser on his ten year old stepson, Sarah Palin’s nephew. So are the liberals supporting a guy who tasers ten year olds?

You would think tasering a young child and drinking in a patrol car would be enough. Just think if Bush had tasered Saddam, the media would be outraged. OK, bad example, Saddam was tasered.
Great. Matelin was on one channel doing this, and her husband Carville was on another slamming Palin for being inexperienced and having a down syndrom baby and having a pregnant daughter and using her position to get her ex brother-in-law fired.
The two of them should just go away.

That's the question the media needs to be asked. Is it OK for the police to taser children?

At this point, they'll support anybody they can use against Palin. But boy oh boy are they going overboard. I'm already detecting a MASSIVE blowback that's going to blast both the Dems and their Drive-By lackeys. You can tell by the pleas of both Obama and Biden -- they both know how incredibly seamy and downright evil this rabid coverage is, and neither one of them wants anybody getting into their family stories.
From what I’ve read he beat her sister, tasered her son and threratened to kill Palin’s father. If I were her I’d be looking to get him off the force too.
Probly can not fire him cause he is in a police union. I am surprised she did not WHOMP him herself.
This offensive was planned in advance (for whoever the VP choice was).
The talking points were prepared in advance, and put out immediately to a large network of sympathetic media ASAP upon Palin’s pick. With a long weekend, they had 3 days to spin the hell out of it with no replies.
Don’t know how she can believe all this and co-exist with that reptilian husband of hers, but love is a mystery! He must have some positive qualities that I have missed over the years...... (probably ones that I don’t ever want to know about!!!!).
Now that the Gustav 'distraction' is over,,,
the relentless attacks on the Palin family will serve to do exactly what the MSM wants,,,
to DISTRACT, DILUTE, TRIVIALIZE and MINIMIZE the Republican Convention.
The MSM's efforts are working like a charm.
If Mary doesn't divorce the slime over Carvelle's attacks on a woman, then she's lost what little remaining credibility she has with me.
