Commander of the Alaskan National Guard(Palin briefed on highly classified military issues??)
NRO ^

Hey Jonah,

Before you dismiss that Commander of the Alaska National Guard stuff. This came from a reader who plays the game and it jibes with my knowledge.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

The more I read about Palin, the more I LOVE her.

I was just going to vote for McCain as a vote against Obama, this pick has really fired me up about the ticket.

If she were a man, there would not be a bit of controversy about her. She is not an affirmative action pick.

Good points. Tallies with something I posted on this thread:

"They pointed out that during her term as governor, Palin met with David Akov, Israel’s Consul General for the Pacific Northwest Region of the US.

The two reportedly discussed cooperation between Israel and Alaska on such issues as counter-terrorism initiatives. During the meeting Akov invited Palin to his home country, which she said she would like to visit, and the governor told the diplomat that her state’s residents love Israel."

Yes, I noted that on another thread.

At the time I was struck by the thought, "What if some chick rat governor had been talking to Hussein about being his VP?"

I'd bet (and I don't gamble) that information would have been leaked in a heartbeat.

An Alaska governor gains unique international experience—it is the only state in the union which borders Russian Territory. It also borders Canada.

Gov. Palin has more executive experience than the other three people on the tickets...combined.

Oh, and while I’m not exactly sure at international boundaries are dealt with at sea (I’m guessing the boundary between Big and Little Diomede is treated the same as Canada and the U.S. do with the St. Lawrence) but Alaska looks like the only state that borders two countries.

I agree with Jonah that just saying that she is head of the Alaska National Guard sounds weak. It has to be explained what that means. The news media are pretty ignorant on these types of things.

Great information! Thanks for the post! Helps us counter the arguments we’ll be hearing from folks whose only source of news is the MSM.
