Posted on 08/30/2008 8:34:27 AM PDT by FreeManWhoCan

The news of Palin has rocked Miami. The pro-republican Cuban-American community here is going crazy! They love her and are energized. Florida will go to the Republicans once again this election cycle.

Is this from first-hand information? I see you are from Florida.

This IS great news. Is there a particular reason why?

I can guess that any group that is just looking for a fair shake, not a handout, will he thrilled with the prospect of her leadership. Her story resonates with self-reliant people.

Yes I was born and raised in Miami. Been into politics all my life and the buzz among the community is not even a buzz, it’s a ROAR. When I visited my parents on Friday it looked like my mom was on a caffine overdose and it was only because she was excited about Palin. Friends from all over Miami calling each other, “Did you hear?” “What a move!” “She’s awasome, did you hear her speech.?” Yes this election has just gotten VERY interesting!

Here's a link of sorts: Miami Herald

John McCain was able to carry Florida during the primary election, but how will his unconventional VP pick go over with Miami's largely Republican Cuban-American voters?

Weighing in from Miami's famed Versailles restaurant, Republican State Representatives J.C. Planas and Marcelo Llorente say Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will have no problem winning over hardline Cuban-American Republicans. After all, Planas notes-- Alaskans and Cuban-Americans share much in common...

I will keep saying this...McCain has just given COnservatives a HUGE GIFT...the new, young, PRETTY, vibrant face of conservatism for the future. We had none.

McCain is in a strange place. He's 72...He won't be around to see the ramifications of his actions years down the road after he leaves office (notice I said WHEN he leaves offfice. I still believe he will win in a landslide). But he delivered us the best gift possible. Who would have thunk?

What do they like about her?

Sarah Palin is one of those unique beautiful women who looks like she has the combined traits of all nationalities. (all the good traits, that is)

She could come from "Anyplace, USA" ... beautiful yet commanding.... family-oriented yet public advocate.

Wow. After two days of watching and reading everything I can about Palin, I am ready to move to Alaska!!!

You’re right. She brings the Republican party back to reality. She’s one hot pick. I’d trust a real person like her as president. I get tired of hearing the experience line. Experience(insiders) are the problem. Obama will be crushed.

It’s not “surfacy” stuff. A person doesn’t give birth to, and care for five children, including one with Down’s Syndrome, if she’s just “surfacy” stuff. Nor does she become Governor of Alaska by taking on the good old boys based on “surfacy” stuff.

Do your homework. :)
