With friends like that (AYERS)

I am honored to be here tonight. A proud mother. A proud Democrat. A proud American. And a proud supporter of Barack Obama." So went Hillary Clinton's opening line Tuesday night to the faithful gathered in Denver to make Barack Obama's nomination as the Democrats' presidential candidate official.

What's missing in that line? Bill Clinton. The only time she mentioned the man responsible for her being the former first lady, for her being the current junior senator from New York, and for coming oh-so-close to the Democrat nomination for president, was when she said, "And when Barack Obama is in the White House, he'll revitalize our economy, defend the working people of America, and meet the global challenges of our time. Democrats know how to do this. As I recall, President Clinton and the Democrats did it before. And President Obama and the Democrats will do it again."

And even then she managed to make it clear that it wasn't Bill who did the heavy lifting during his eight years in office; it was he "and the Democrats."

In 35 minutes, she only mentioned Slick Willie once, and then only in passing. What does that tell you? Ingratitude seems to be part of the Clinton DNA, doesn't it? • William Ayers is a professor of education at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He is also a former member of the Weather Underground Organization (the Weathermen) that claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings between 1970 and 1974 targeting such federal sites as the Pentagon. Ayers was never convicted of any crime - his lawyers got him off by claiming illegal surveillance - but he told the New York Times, in September 2001, that "I don't regret setting bombs ... I feel we didn't do enough." So he's an admitted terrorist.

Why is that important? Because he's a longtime acquaintance - some say friend - of Barack Obama. Obama actually launched his political career at an event at Ayers' home in Chicago, according to Stanley Kurtz. Kurtz is a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, and is a Harvard-educated social anthropologist and frequent contributor to National Review.

Obama has dismissed Ayers as just "a guy who lives in my neighborhood," and "not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis." But Kurtz notes that Obama was chairman of the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation where Ayers was a founder and guiding force. Obama assumed the Annenberg board chairmanship only months before his first run for office, and, according to Kurtz, "almost certainly received the job at the behest of Bill Ayers. During Obama's time as Annenberg board chairman, Ayers's own education projects received substantial funding."

The Annenberg Foundation, it should be noted, gave a $50-million grant to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge to improve public education in Chicago. But the Annenberg Challenge, after several years of spending foundation money, was disbanded because a study showed it had had no effect on public education in Chicago. And there were also, according to Kurtz, questions raised about conflicts of interest.

This is one of those Obama relationships from the past - the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is another - that are going to haunt Sen. Obama in the run-up to November. Unlike the Rev. Wright, however, the Ayers connection isn't going to go away any time soon, because Ayers has still not disavowed his support for, or participation in, subversive, violent attacks on the United States government.

While the big MSM newspapers are trying their best to spike the Ayers/Obama story, a small newspaper editor is not.

It's absolutely OUTRAGEOUS that the MSM continues to ignore this story.

The American people deserve an explanation as to why it is normal and ok for their President,,,

to have a friendship/association with a blatant, anti-American terrorist (and his terrorist wife) who tried to bomb the Pentagon, Capitol and NY Police HQ,,,

and who BOASTS that his only regret is that HE DID NOT DO MORE!

"his lawyers got him off by claiming illegal surveillance"

I don't know how I missed this one! Must look into it more.

Sgt. Brian V. McDonnell

"In a bombing that took place on February 16, 1970, and that was credited to the Weathermen at the time,[19][20] a pipe bomb filled with heavy metal staples and lead bullet projectiles was set off on the ledge of a window at the Park Station of the San Francisco Police Department. In the blast, Brian V. McDonnell, a police sergeant, was fatally wounded while Robert Fogarty, another police officer, received severe wounds to his face and legs and was partially blinded.[21]

Weatherman leader Bernardine Dohrn has been suspected of involvement in the February 16, 1970, bombing of the Park Police Station in San Francisco. At the time, Dohrn was said to be living with a Weatherman cell in a houseboat in Sausalito, California, unnamed law enforcement sources later told KRON-TV.[22]

An investigation into the case was reopened in 1999,[23] and a San Francisco grand jury looked into the incident, but no indictments followed,[22] and no one was ever arrested for the bombing.[23]

An FBI informant, Larry Grathwohl, who successfully penetrated the organization from the late summer of 1969 until April 1970, later testified to a U.S. Senate subcommittee that Bill Ayers, then a high-ranking member of the organization and a member of its Central Committee (but not then Dohrn's husband), had said Dohrn constructed and planted the bomb. Grathwohl testified that Ayers had told him specifically where the bomb was placed (on a window ledge) and what kind of shrapnel was put in it. Grathwohl said Ayers was emphatic, leading Grathwohl to believe Ayers either was present at some point during the operation or had heard about it from someone who was there.[24]

In a book about his experiences published in 1976, Grathwohl wrote that Ayers, who had recently attended a meeting of the group's Central Committee, said Dohrn had planned the operation, made the bomb and placed it herself.[25] In 2008, author David Freddoso commented that "Ayers and Dohrn escaped prosecution only because of government misconduct in collecting evidence against them", Freddoso wrote.[24][26]

I believe it is even more OUTRAGEOUS that MSM has ignored the email sent by the OBAMA camp to shutdown/disrupt the WGN Radio interview of Stanley Kurtz.

Text of the e-mail the Obama campaign sent to supporters:

August 28, 2008

In the next few hours, we have a crucial opportunity to fight one of the most cynical and offensive smears ever launched against Barack.

Tonight, WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears. He’s currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers.

Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse.

Call into the “Extension 720” show with Milt Rosenberg at (312) 591-7200

(Show airs from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. tonight)

Then report back on your call at http://my.barackobama.com/WGNstandards

Kurtz has been using his absurd TV appearances in an awkward and dishonest attempt to play the terrorism card. His current ploy is to embellish the relationship between Barack and Ayers.

Just last night on Fox News, Kurtz drastically exaggerated Barack’s connection with Ayers by claiming Ayers had recruited Barack to the board of the Annenberg Challenge. That is completely false and has been disproved in numerous press accounts.

It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves. At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz’s lies.

Kurtz is scheduled to appear from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the Chicago market.

Calling will only take a minute, and it will make a huge difference if we nip this smear in the bud. Confront Kurtz tonight before this goes any further:

http://my.barackobama.com/WGNstandards

Please forward this email to everyone you know who can make a call tonight.

Keep fighting the good fight,

Obama Action Wire

"terrorism card". What's that? Is it a bad thing? Guess it is if it is in Obama's deck.

So, Mr. "Change" is really good at soaking the taxpayers for millions, with no results. He will do the same for all of us if he is elected.

Come on now, of course not!

I mean, the democratic nominee for President would never maintain a friendship with a terrorist, now would he?

P.S. Ayers is just a NUANCED radical. /s

A “nuanced radical” whose equally “nuanced” homosexuality was for the purpose of “smashing monogamy.”

Wonder if Ayers’ marriage to fellow “nuanced radical” is also “nuanced.”
