Obama camp: McCain would be committing "political malpractice" with veep leak tonight

Annoyed by all the mind-games and leaks meant to divert attention from their candidate's long-anticipated acceptance speech tonight, Barack Obama's campaign is hitting back this afternoon and accusing their counterparts of playing political games.

"Tonight would be political malpractice," Obama communications chief Dan Pfeiffer told Politico. "It's one more piece of evidence that the McCain campaign is a war room masquerading as a presidential campaign."

Pfeiffer did, however, call McCain's bluff.

"If they do it, I will pay all of McCain's mortgages next month," he quipped.

McCain, as Pfeiffer well knows, has no mortgages on the numerous properties and he and his wife own.

Matt Drudge is teasing a potential 6 p.m. leak of McCain's choice on the top of his Web page, creating a frenzy of speculation today as most political reporters await Obama's speech later tonight.

McCain is set to roll out his choice at a rally tomorrow in Dayton, Ohio.

As opposed to The Gaffiah’s treasonous acceptance speech.

The McCain camp has done a very good job of directing attention away from the Dem convention and to the VP pick.

I almost forgot Obama was giving a speech tonight ;-)

I believe McCain was suposed to leak at 6 until the BO campaign objected. Tommorow is McCain’s birthday and that is when they were originally set to announce.

I was commenting on another site that I thought this idea of a supposed “leak” was a setup from the media.

CNN successfully leaked Obama’s pick and messed with his whole text message thing. But now if a news outlet, say CNN, leaks McCain’s pick it will be because it came from McCain’s camp directly. A convenient way to set him up to make him look like an ass for being petty by leaking his pick on Obama’s big night.

Now he doesn’t even have to do it. The leak about a possible leak has already gotten a lot of attention.

I don't think McCain would formally announce tonite due to the event being on the same nite as MLK’s. However a leak may be unavoidable.

Will Katie Couric be desperately pandering to Cindy McCain LIVE on the Evening News like she was with Michelle Obama tonite???

HELL NO... We already know the answers to that question.

Just do it. You have no idea what games they will be doing next week.

Politics is always about the game.

So what, since when does the Democrat Party care about playing fair, what with open primaries, and doing things to mess with the primary system - Ross Perot.

If you can't stand the heat GTFO the kitchen.

McCain should mortgage something tonight (like a nice big fat piece of land with a 90-day same as cash 'mortgage') and stick it to this weasel.

The media will make sure that no thunder is stolen from the one tonight. Expect massive obamisms on all channels.

Obama is such a whining twit. But he is also a malignant creature who tries to intimidate others with his thugs.

Obama is only 9 points ahead of McCain in California now. Obama is slowing going under as people find out more about the man. I don't think he will win in November.
