Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama agreed Monday to limit a divisive roll call for president, giving delegates a brief but historic choice between a black man and white woman.
The deal would allow some states to cast votes for both Obama and Clinton...
...both senators have an incentive to help make peace between their opposing sides Obama so he'll have their backing in November and Clinton so she'll be well positioned for a future run.
..."There's a moment that you want to enjoy your bitterness," [Townsend] said.
...they were still struggling to solve the mechanics of honoring Clinton without getting bogged down in time-consuming counting.
...the New York senator will be the headliner Tuesday night. Her husband... will speak Wednesday ... ... [He] is eager to draw sharp distinctions between...Obama and McCain. Clinton is in discussions with Obama aides over how broad the speech should be...
It was not clear whether there would be floor demonstrations for Clinton...a spectacle that could detract from Obama's political coronation.
The animosity in Denver is not just on the Clinton side. Susan Castner...said six people insulted her as she walked alone down the street Saturday night wearing a Clinton T-shirt, telling her to take it off and calling her a profanity.
..."I hate the feeling that you shouldn't wear your Hillary gear unless there are two or three of you together."
...House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is chairwoman of the convention, said ... there should be a full roll call vote.
"I can't imagine not going into a convention and hearing 'Alabama!' and the whole world looking up to see what comes next,...But as typical of these roll calls, at a certain point, somebody has the votes and the protocol and graciousness come through and that will have its own dynamic."

That bit about two or three being gathered in Clinton's name brings another person to mind.
Somehow, I am not sure they want the fallout either way of what would come next when 'Alabama!' is called.
The way I understand this "roll call" will NOT include all the states, just in case it begins to look like Hillary will win it. Basically it's a phony show-vote (which is no vote, really) that has no effect on anything.
Only goofy liberals would do this. It's so they can all "feel better" about Hillary losing.
Just a dog and pony show...
They know damn well if they allowed a vote the big O just might lose..
Wow ! I agree with her 100%.
Always a first time for everything I guess.
“without getting bogged down in time-consuming counting”
the new democracy.
Here we go....
Trouble in paradise
The talk on FOX is when it gets to the New York delegation Hillary will call for a stop to the vote and give it to Obama. That will piss of the PUMA’s for sure. They are not going to like a partial vote.
It should be a talking point during the Republican convention that they are going to count all the votes unlike the democrats.
They sound like a bunch of juveniles.
Agreed, good contrast. I don’t see how they’ll be able to just stop the process w/o trauma.
Michelle Obama's speech was contrived. There were a couple of bright moments but overall it was not moving.
There is a lot of emphasis on HER and btw she could blow the whole election for him.
Her comment on treating people with dignity does not reflect Michelle Obama's behavior.
Her comment about Hillary was she could not even clean up her own house how was she going to clean up the White House.
Welcome to liberal reality, idiot.
And if your state is not one of those that are allowed to vote for her highness as a result of this back-room deal will you still be a Happy Hillary Camper? Or will you be a candidate for PUMA membership.
Time will tell. Pass the popcorn.
