ATLANTA Bob Barr, a former Georgia congressman and the Libertarian Partys nominee for president, responds to concerns that hell siphon votes from Republican John McCain.
The fact of the matter is the Republican Party has problems that go far deeper than Bob Barr, he said.
Barr is fundraising in Georgia over the weekend.
Our goal is to impede the chances to be president for both Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama, Barr added.
Barr is one of two former Georgia congressional representatives running on third party tickets. Cynthia McKinney is the Green Partys presidential nominee.
...just sayin....
he must really have his head stuck up...
Fixed.
>Our goal is to impede the chances to be president for both Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama, Barr added. <
how does he do that?
And Boob Barr has problems that go far deeper than the Republican Party's.
What an ACLU Steaming Pantload.
Wow! Not very bright. If the DemocRATS can successfully control Clinton Inc. and not allow them to pull off a coup at their convention, either McCain or Obama is going to win. PERIOD!
Mindless fool. A spoiler is all we need. I doubt though, that any thinking voter would vote for this hack. Of course, that leaves out the socialist libs....
What does he think will be left of our country after 4 years of President Obama and Pelosi and Reid running Congress?
LOL that was the SECOND thing I was going to post.
Just my thoughts... who the heck is he trying to elect then?
He's on dope or sumpthin...
Little Man Syndrome.
Was the fool’s ACLU gig short-lived?
I used to think Barr had some modicum of wisdom back in the day. I see he’s proving me wrong every time he opens his mouth.
What does he think will be left of our country after 4 years of President Obama and Pelosi and Reid running Congress?
::::::::
Good point, and it is the point the non-thinking, kool-aid drinkers do not even have a clue about....these socialists will burn America to the ground, just to rule over the ashes. POWER is their only goal....
I wish the libertarians had nominated a libertarian.
I live in NY. I didn’t realize Crazy Jihad Cindy was a candidate this year for any party. I think I might vote for her just for kicks-hahahah. Obambi is going to win this state anyway.
More power to him. Anyone who dumps money down a rat hole like Barr, Nader, Paul, or McKinney has the right, even the obligation, to be swindled of their money. Can't fault him for gathering money and enriching himself and his friends with the $ of other dopes. Probably some freepers will donate to this guy.
He should have kept his mouth shut.
Now his name is off my list of options.
Huh? Since when does the libertarian party hurt the democrats in elections? In a world where results matter not the symbolism behind the effort, the Libertarians help the democrats get elected when people vote Libertarian. I have no idea what he means by he hopes to "impede" the chances Senator Barack Hussein Obama, Barr isnt pulling votes from the liberals.
That sums Barr up quite nicely.
yeah, what is the point, he’d never win, he is just a lunatic
I know shrimp H Ross Perot and Barr is a has been.
Not sure how he will do that. One of these two WILL be President unless Bob Barr has some secret massive army and is planning some sort of coup.
I said it yesterday - Barr is nuttier than “the little hand grenade with a bad haircut” Ross Perot on LSD.
Go away Bob, just go away.
John McCain has an opportunity to make his case to the American people. Hopefully our neighbors will have the good sense to see that he is the best choice we have this cycle. If not, we (collectively) deserve the boatload of excrement we will get.
Bob Barr reminds me of David Gergen.
Seems the idiot is saying, HE will be elected...uh, yeah, when pigs fly.
Wasn’t this fellow a leader in the impeachment of Clinton? Wasn’t he also a fierce drug warrior?
Now he is a Libertarian?
So you would vote for Cindy who hates Jews and Israel.
If you are not an observant Jew, at least think of the 6 Million and the ones still being killed
At least Ross Perot had the respect of a lot of military people he went out of his way to help.
I voted for him, and it was the biggest political mistake of my life.
Never again.
Ummmmm....Dear Bob:
Barr is employed by the ACLU, is anti war, for legalizing drugs, for gay marriage, etc.
Barr is one of two former Georgia congressional representatives running on third party tickets. Cynthia McKinney is the Green Partys presidential nominee.
Are they implying that Barr and McKinney are working together? Or is Barr really stupid enough to think he and his gang of merrymen can somehow "impede" both parties?
Has anybody here seen my old friend, self-respect?
IMO, Bob Barr has never recovered from eating Borat’s breast milk cheese
Libertarians should have nominated him only if he agreed to one thing:
Promote the Libertarian Party, NOT just your ego.
Were Bob Barr to put half of his futile efforts into getting Libertarian candidates elected in weak, underpopulated congressional seats around the country, in a single election they could become a serious party with real power.
Right now, the balance of power between the Republicans and the Democrats is thin. Even a dozen Libertarian congressmen, elected from little Podunk districts, could force the two main parties to give them power far beyond their numbers, in exchange for Libertarian support.
In a single election, on the issues they really care about, the Libertarians would have the swing vote!
The same applies to the Constitution Party. They could become extremely powerful after just ONE election.
But the presidential contenders for both parties have huge, bloated egos that demand that THEY waste all the party resources in a futile effort to become a spoiler.
It would be so incredibly easy to get real power, but they never do it.
How wrong you are on that statement. "No New Taxes" Bush handed the election to Clinton the first time. The republican party with Bob Dole at the helm handed Clinton the second time. The republican party must be going with the trivicta with McCain.
I’d say he’s definitely done a “Pat Buchanan”.
President Bush, who did not keep his word, pretty much gave us Perot and a Clinton victory. He had the White House to keep and couldn't pull it off. Had Bush kept his word and been a President worth re-electing, Perot would not have run.
Barr reminds me of Don Quixote: “At this point they came in sight of thirty forty windmills that there are on plain, and as soon as Don Quixote saw them he said to his squire, “Fortune is arranging matters for us better than we could have shaped our desires ourselves, for look there, friend Sancho Panza, where thirty or more monstrous giants present themselves, all of whom I mean to engage in battle and slay, and with whose spoils we shall begin to make our fortunes; for this is righteous warfare, and it is God’s good service to sweep so evil a breed from off the face of the earth.”
Has to go down as one of the stupidest statements of all time. One or the other is going to win. You either help the winner or impede the loser.
Barr won’t make a ripple.
ElRon’s numbers in the general would’ve been dismal... and Barr won’t even approach that pathetic showing.
This is the most stupid thing I have heard. Hey, Barr, then who? You a@@. Don't get your hopes up, President you will never be.
Now that everyone seems to want to be 'green' it's a wonder Nader isn't a choice. This demonstrates perfectly how slow democracies are in adapting to changing times.
But it gets worse: We could elect Tom Tancredo tommorrow and by the end of his second term a quarter million Mexicans would still be pouring across the border each year.
Bureaucratic inertia and holdovers from previous administrations are a big part of the problem. That's why we MUST have smaller government. Our survival is at stake here.
We can lay on our big fat ass and hope that during an emergency the fire crews will be able to chainsaw an opening to drag us to safety, or we can lose some of the weight. Obesity may be a problem in the populace, but it's nothing compared to the lethargy and inactivity taking place in government, regardless which party is in control. No wonder there is so much apathy, the parties are considered the 'same' because they both accomplish about the same: not much.
Sort of reminds you of Alan Keyes, doesn't he? Seems Freepers often get in bed with the strangest of people because they agreed with us on an issue. When we later peel away the layers, we seem to find a rotted core.
She’s not going to win, what’s it matter? The more votes the Green Party gets anyway, the more it hurts the Democrats.
If his goal isn't to win, why would anyone waste their vote?
