Pelosi says case needed for U.S. offshore drilling

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Sunday that expanded oil drilling in federal waters could be included in a broader energy bill if advocates can prove its viability as a solution to America's energy problems.

Pelosi, a California Democrat who reversed her outright opposition to expanded offshore drilling earlier this month, said the oil industry and its allies in Congress must also agree to royalties on oil profits to fund the development of renewable energy resources.

She criticized President George W. Bush and other Republicans for presenting offshore drilling as an answer to the recent rise in U.S. gasoline prices, saying expanded drilling would not affect prices for a decade and then only by a small degree.

"I don't think that's a good alternative. But if they can prove that it is, and they want to pay royalties to the taxpayer ... then we have something to talk about," the top congressional Democrat told NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

saying expanded drilling would not affect prices for a decade and then only by a small degree.

Lies, of course. Even the threat of new drilling immediately and sometimes greatly affects gas prices, as speculators are driven away from the futures markets.

Why does insist on DESTROYING her own party?

This election was set up to be a Democrat rout, but now it’s a toss-up - essentially over a single issue.

In any case, I love it!

Might as well stop AIDS and other medical research, stop space exploration and shut down public schools and colleges because none of them pay off immediately either.

All this commie witch is trying to do, is defuse the energy issue as a MAJOR Repub campaign issue. You can bet any forward movement would IMMEDIATELY be killed by a Obama White House and a commie-dominated Congress.

She knows very well what America’s oil dependence is doing to our economy and our defense posture. That is EXACTLY what the socialist libs want. And they have no remorse about feeding the terrorists that benefit from our oil dollars — none at all. That is not what is important -— only the pursuit of POWER AND CONTROL is important to these maggots.

This pretty much sums up Pelosi's attitude:

“When you win the election, you win the majority, and what is the power of the speaker? To set the agenda, the power of recognition, and I am not giving the gavel away to anyone.”

She is the most power-hungry, ego-maniacal, self-centered bitch on the planet. I sure hope the people of CA wake up some day and realize it's all about her and she could care less about the American people.

So, the process for national policy in America now depends on whether you convince Nancy Pelosi of something, and then she will allow it to be voted on in the House? What if a majority disagree with her judgment on something like drilling and its effect on the price of gas? Is that allowed, and can we debate it and have a vote and *gasp* disagree with Ms. Pelosi? Or is that not allowed anymore?

What Nancy describes is not democracy, but autocracy. We may still elect senators and representatives, but rules in each body can, and currently do, prevent the operation of representative rule into something that is more like Putin's Russia. We get votes, but the ones at the top are in charge, game the process, can't be removed, and don't allow dissent.

Pay ROYALTIES to the taxpayer? Royalties are paid to the owner of some property, usually intellectual property. Exactly what are the taxpayers providing to the oilcos, since we’re talking about drilling in INTERNATIONAL WATERS that the rest of the world already drills at will?

Her proposal is a poison pill. If adopted, private investors will not invest. She wants to continue the Rat Oil Blockade (ROB), an immoral policy designed to create an artificial shortage of a vital resource.

She is proposing nationalization of the energy industry. This talk about public ownership is an opening for nationalization. She wants to seize private property in an offhand manner. Effectively, she is proposing a policy in which private investors bear risk with greatly reduced rewards. The public is the silent partner skimming the proceeds. If the private owners play according to rat rules, the rats will make life easier.

The rats are just one step removed from organized crime. This arrangement is similar to organize crime infiltration of an industry. Organized crime provides protection from other pillagers while skimming most profits. Organized crime will eventually take over an enterprise if it looks reasonably profitable.

The rats are delusional about the impact of oil exploration on the market for oil. The rats do not want competition for their favored energy sources. The rats proposal to plunder the strategic oil reserve is treason. When it comes to elections, the rats will say and do anything.

The Democrat "No Domestic Energy Policy!"

All of that puts the U.S. in a position that war for oil or
complete economic collapse will be our only choices.
You can't frustrate every source of domestic energy
without consequences. Our enemies will blackmail us
to the extent that we are vulnerable to blackmail.

The Democrats are leading us into a real war for oil.
A war we won't have the energy to fight.
