The “grandmother” in Africa is not really “the” grandmother. Her position in Obama’s lineage is not really known. After she admitted she was both a Moslem and a Christian, I think folks gave up on using her as a reliable source. I know I did.

DNA,and genetics research created from the discovery of the human genome, has fitted with what linguistics has been puzzling out for decades.

Amazing what a little harmless digression will do. I have Jerome Corsi's book- The Obama Nation and was delighted to find our local Canadian outlet displaying the five copies facing outward. This brought me into this thread.

You are probably well versed in the break through regarding the Haplo Group. Just incase there are those who are not aware though, I thought I might add a little information. Quite improper for me to advertise someone's commercial endeavor, but..... Various enterprises as you will know, will track one's migrative ancestry (so they claim). A fellow who is very English had his tracked. He was surprised to find one ancestry came from what is now Mongolia and the other from Mespotamia. (One paternal and the other maternal). Ref: familytree.com

I would hesitate to fork out the $250 USD though for the one agency. I note genebase.com will do it for $89 USD. The vital question which I posed on Friday last,(FR 11:46am), was whether the four main groups evolved separately- or were derived from ONE common group.

Many Academic scholars, mostly will call anyone who believes in separate origins, rather nasty names, sorry to say.

I never mentioned anything about military bases. My comment was limited solely to a discussion of births that were within the USA, eg McCain was born in the USA when he was born in the Panama Canal Zone as it was part of the USA at that time. Whether McCain was, or was not, born on a military base is irrelevant.

According to what I have read, the human species originated in Africa, period. But you, Peter, probably know all this.

The oldest groups migrated out of Africa and traveled north to Europe to become Neanderthal (extinct) and the other traveled across the underbelly of Asia into southeast Asia hundreds of thousands of years ago.

The asian group is an enigma, as the earliest fossil remains found have skeletal features that correspond to distinctive asian features found in modern asian groups. All genetic evidence indicates that genetic flow was west-east to SE Asia, then south-north across what is today China and into Siberia. In the past sea-level was as much if not more than 400 ft. lower than today. and thus more land along the continents’ edges would have exposed. Most of the Indonesian Archipelago would have been a solid land mass.

As would be expected the largest genetic diversity is found in Africa itself. The three main distinct racial groups there are Bantu (equitorial negro), Hotentot (pygmy), and Bushmen. All three have very dark skin.

All other races are actually sub-groups of the handful of main races.

This woman in Kenya who claims to be his paternal grandmother - I’m going to take her word for it. Not because it makes Obama look like a fraud, or his halp-siblings back up her claims, but because she has zero to gain by telling a lie or the truth. How refreshing!

The Wall Street Journal and Republican investigators have been to Kenya and have brought back information on the Senator. Granny Obama may be the least of his worries.

There is much relative to Obama that is opaque, little that is transparent. There are people associated closely with Obama in the past, people whose backgrounds are less than reputable and who prefer to stay under a slimy rock. He is afraid of the truth. Lies on top of lies on top of lies - that is the Obama campaign.

I suspect that the Republicans are soon going public with a lot of background information on Obama, the stuff he doesn’t want people to know. Too bad the Democrats didn’t do it themselves.

Thank you for your post and I will keep an open mind on any information I am given.

Altogether this is a great learning experience. In dealing with the Barack Obama situation, the positive side is the pastime/occupation of genealogy. I thought the search for Howard Hughes descendents back thirty years ago, gave this exercise a real boost.

At least Obama has sparked much research on family backgrounds. I think he owes the American people full disclosure.

Actually, they’re not. They’re offshoots of an Asian race from 20,000 years ago. Both populations have evolved somewhat in that time.

The Australian aborigines originally came from southeast Asia but they are not themselves of the asian race. They migrated onto the Australian continent 40,000 years ago by boat.

The people who spread out across the south and central Pacific came from a the same general area of southeast Asia but did so at a much later date. Polynesian haplogroups have been found among American Indian populations living along the northwestern shore of South America and up along the western shore of Central America.

Is this what you’re talking about?

Nope, simply stating that the Amerinds came to the Americas about 20,000 years ago and there’s been some human evolution on both sides of the Pacific since then. Amerinds look different from todays East Asians and chances are they both look different from their common ancestors.

OK.

You are aware that henges have been discovered up and down the east coast of the United States?

Stone henge in England is one of the most famous, but henges made from wood have been found in the southeast and a stone henge was found in New England. This leads some anthropologists to suspect migrations from Europe into North America during the last Ice Age.
