Pawlenty is still unimpressive and subpar. Not as bad as Slick Willard (who is ?), but still a “D” on the grade scale. He needs to go with Sanford, Carcieri or Barbour.

Oh, I see you saw the thread before I did.
Don Carcieri would be great. Mark Sanford and Haley Barbour are from safe GOP states. Also, there is some anti-southern sentiment in the northern tier states.

I know little about Pawlenty, although his interview with Glenn Beck was encouraging. I have since spoken with a Minnesotan I know (and who’s political instincts I mirror)...he is, sadly, quite underwhelmed as well.

unimpressive and subpar
Exactly. An unimpressive subpar nobody who enhances nothing. SOmeone who in four years (or eight) will leave us in the lurch because he can't handle a national position like president. You can't groom him for anything. He's not an asset now and he will not become one over time. If God forbid McCain can't fulfill his duties ... this country is LOST!

Pawlenty is a smooth talking debater who women won’t be threatened by.
He knows political sweet talk for centrists.

Pawlenty did captain a sinking ship to shore. Ditto with Carcieri. If you are going to blame Pawlenty for the MN GOP setbacks, then should Carcieri be blamed for RI being a one party state?
