In a backroom deal just prior to the Christmas break, Congress passed the omnibus Appropriations bill which included the Hutchison Amendment that gutted the Secure Fence Act. Her amendment essentially guaranteed that the DHS didn't have to build the fence! After Grassfire broke the "Secure Fence Hoax," key members of Congress took action in an effort to undo what the Hutchison amendment did, by restoring deadlines and double fence mandate for the entire 854 miles of border. Two bills have been introduced which Grassfire is supporting. Each of these bills demands Congress make good on their original promise to build the border fence: *HR 4987 - Fence By Date Certain Act (Jones R-NC) and *HR 5124 - Reinstatement of the Secure Fence Act of 2008 (Hunter R-CA). Grassfire finds the actions to undo the Secure Fence Act reprehensible. In response, we've launched a national petition demanding Congress build the border fence as originally promised. It’s almost like they don’t want to protect our country and just let the illegals take over. For crying out loud, Congress, build the dang fence already!!!!!!!!
where i live they build fences to keep us humans out of bighorn sheep habitat.
It's not that they want the illegals to take over...there is MONEY to be made and votes to be had.
This isn't a Democrat-Republican issue it is a Right vs Wrong issue. The Democrats see potential voters and users of government programs. The Republicans see cheap labor for business.
They will build a fence and get the bloated contracts out to their cronies, who will use illegal labor, ironically.
The problem is the ones already here, we do nothing as they multiply and grow larger...and after the baby is born on US soil, it doesn’t matter anymore, you just minted yourself a new US citizen and if the mother is penniless, it counts as two wards of the State. This means a HUD housing voucher, food stamps, health care for Mom and baby, cash for spending and schooling/education for both...and if the mother wants to migrate here, she will seek publicly-funded immigration attorneys.
To hump a few days in the desert and plop out a kid on US soil to abuse our 14th Amendment and living on our social safety net is BETTER than living in Mexico.
Our housekeeper was illegal until her son was 21, then she got a green card, years ago...she still thinks that California was stolen from her people and we should take care of the Mexicans...”joo are reech, why not geeve some munney to de poor peoples.”
The 3rd World mindset is very, very different than the Anglo view of the world...they truly feel as if they work hard, so they deserve equality...this is the Socialism/Liberalism that is pervasive in Latin America...the class warfare that ruins their lands they believe is the same here.
She confessed to me that they were saving to live in a “white” area as Latino areas were dangerous and not very nice.
Her children went to school here without paying a dime in taxes, her husband had a stolen SS# and three DUI’s.
We need massive repatriation. We yearn for a leader to enforce the law.
This is why I have said all along that Hutchinson is a real problem for us conservatives. She’s a damn RINO.
Comments welcome.
I agree. I think the first step is to severely punish the illegal business practice of hiring illegals - this would end the job magnet. If that were done many would not only cease to be attracted to the U.S., but many would also self-deport for lack of jobs.
Terrific observations and questions. I don’t pretend to know much about international economics. Some would say my views on the subject of the massive foreign illegal alien invasion are too simplistic. But, to me, it’s just a matter of common sense. Why the president and Congress are oblivious to the threat to our national security in this age of international terrorism presented by insecure borders is beyond me. We all know the social and economic destruction we’re experiencing because it impacts all of us: ever-increasing taxes for bankrupt public districts, social welfare services, insolvent hospitals, prison incarceration, and the human and financial devastation caused by the drug cartel. Glenn Beck has interviewed (several times) a guy named Walker who was head of the Congressional Budget Office and who presents a very convincing case that we’re almost beyond the point of no return regarding national bankruptcy. Have you heard him? And I also believe that ethnocentric lobbies and special interest businesses (U.S. Chamber of Commerce, etc.)who support the illegal aliens have led us corporately as a nation to abandon our Constitution and our traditional position on immigration. This is Article IV., Section 4., of the Constitution: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.” And that’s precisely what the United States is NOT doing! I apologize for the unintended length of this. Regards,
True: “Follow the money” (and the votes).
Exactly. It would make deportation that much easier. And no, children of those who are not legally in this country should never get citizenship.
