"According to Newsweek's Howard Fineman, the prospects will know soon: They've been asked where they can be reached tomorrow afternoon."
Does this mean Obama will announce this decision early Friday morning?
This will be one of the latest VP picks before the convention correct?

Looks like Obama thought it would be easier to flip Virginia rather than Indiana.

ScoochDude said:
I got it from a good source 2 weeks ago, that his VP pick is Tim Kaine. And you can take that to the bank.
At first I didn't believe my source. He is in tight with the governor, and a billionaire with a b. I do a lot of work for him and he shoots straight. So, I believe him.

I don’t think Kaine will be able to flip Virginia though.

I think Kaine looks like a goofball, but other than that and his lack of experience, I don’t know a lot about him. Does Obama think he delivers Virginia? Is he that popular there?

We've known for days that Obama would be traveling in Virginia with Kaine on Thursday. It's no real "scoop" that he'll be staying at the Executive Mansion.
That said, Obama has events at John Tyler Community College in Chester and in Chesapeake tomorrow afternoon (at 4:30 in time for the 6:00 news cycle).
Consider the following:
I don't think the announcement comes at John Tyler:
- yes, Tyler was the last VP from Virginia, but...
- Tyler only became President because William Henry Harrison died after one month in office, earning Tyler the nickname "His Accidency."
- Tyler was a member of the Confederate House before he died.
If it's Kaine, the announcement comes tomorrow in Chesapeake. When the news of that event first leaked, the Obama campaign asked lefty bloggers to pull the announcement.
Kaine has held a "line of succession" meeting.
Main Street is apparently buzzing with Kaine rumors.
This morning in Martinsville in appearance with Mark Warner, Obama told the crowd "keep your cell phones on."
It appears that everything is pointing toward Kaine.
Call me skeptical. But it still could be a hugh smokescreen.
But, if it's not, I'm ready.

My guess is that he doesn’t want this to turn out to be a Harriet Myers.
By announcing so close to the election, he’s all but assuring the nomination before the attacks. Announcing too soon will “bloody” up Kaine before he’s even enters the building.

Obama is between a rock and a hard place.
By announcing too early he leaves Kaine open to be bloodied.
By announcing too late he’s killing any possible buzz or bump with supporters.
Voters are focused on who he’s going to pick for VP.. instead of any of his “policies”

I still want Obama to lose, but if running for Vice-President would get Kaine off our necks till November, that’d be a Good Thing. I wish I thought there was a chance of shaming him into resigning.

He won’t resign, but the House GOP leadership has already started the “what about Virginia’s budget crisis” song.

Kaine was my prediction a while back.
I hope I was wrong. Kaine’s media image (he just loves God don’t you know) is a good fit for Berry.

Also, Kaine is refusing to issue agency budget cuts for the projected $1B projected budget shortfall until AFTER the elections. Why would he issue such ‘draconian’ cuts, if he’s going to be on the ticket? That would just give ammunition to the R’s.
just musing....
To: Crimson Elephant
Ever since Kaine has been governor he has done absolutely zero except try to raise taxes on every road in the State.
The man is an absolute to the left liberal as far as he can be.
Obama and Kaine will make a perfect match, but not in the White House.

Not only that, Kaine is a Catholic and takes order directly from that Pope feller in Rome.
No, not Georgia. Rome Europe.
Kaine was a Christian missionary in his former life
