Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- John McCain has confirmed that he will not be picking a running mate who takes a pro-abortion position and has ruled out former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, who media outlets promoted as a possibility McCain aides told Republican Party officials of the decision and they confirmed it to Fox News.
The aides and officials indicated that McCain got the message from pro-life advocates that picking an abortion advocate like Ridge was non-negotiable and could cost him votes.

The aides and officials indicated that McCain got the message from pro-life advocates that picking an abortion advocate like Ridge was non-negotiable and could cost him votes. Not could. Would.
Why did he even entertain the idea for more than two seconds?
Goes to show even McInsane can get the message once in a while.
'Cause he's not a conservative. Oh, sorry, that was a rhetorical question, wasn't it.
So much for principles. McCain is not pro-choice; but when the voters say he’ll lose votes, principles go out the window. I am not disagreeing with the decision, only that it is not based on principles.
That is why I have decided to vote against EVERY single incumbent. In a dark blue state, I can write in candidates also. My vote for President will go to Ann Coulter, the only person with b*!!$ enough to run this country.
ANN COULTER FOR PRESIDENT - YOU WANT A WOMAN, WE’LL GIVE YOU A REAL ONE!
Because he's an ass.
Because it fit his "maverick" self-image.
To p*ss off the conservative base.
D) All of the above.
Between this and Saddlebrook, I must say, McCain is starting to look like a winner. No more compassionate conservatism!
How about Ann for Veep?
To a President Limbaugh?
Another poster mentioned this a while back, but I forget who...so props to you!
It also could be cover for whoever the VP is...in otherwords, they would look really good by comparison. They might be pro life but sort of...I don’t know...Romneyesque?
Granted, anything that gets us rid of that candy-arse, "touchy-feely" political sham is a good thing.
McCain/Palin '08
I kinda wish conservatives (Christian fundamentalists, et al) would show more restraint on publicly yelling at McCain about his VP choice (whoops! bad word) and that he better not pick this guy or that gal. It only emboldens the left and forces McCain to waste time caving in.
On the other had we don’t want him to pick a dork either.
How about private communication and not public airing of dirty laundry? Keep it in the family.
John McCain is like training a big water dog. Sometimes it takes a 2 X 4.
Your name has been added to the Obama aider and abbetor list
“ANN COULTER FOR PRESIDENT - YOU WANT A WOMAN, WELL GIVE YOU A REAL ONE!”
How about Ann for Veep?
To a President Limbaugh?
Works for me, tomato/tomatoe
IMO, if he really did entertain it, it’s because he figured the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages, yielding a net gain of votes. Obama’s intervening “above my paygrade” comment has clearly made the gamble unnecessary.
well at least we can be thankful he’s paying attention...
now about ANWR & GITMO, senator...
