“All the gains McCain made at Saddlebrook would be washed down the drain.”

You are correct! If McCain chooses a pro-choice VP after what he said so STRONGLY on Saturday night at the Saddleback Forum he just might lose in November. McCain said:
“I have a 25-year pro life record in the Congress, in the Senate, and as president of the United States, I will be a pro life President and this presidency will have pro life policies. That’s my commitment, that’s my commitment to you.”

After that statement, a pro-life VP will most certainly flush down the drain any gains he made with very many conservatives. Why? Lack of trust....yet again!

Disagree. With good reason, McCain has decided that he count on conservatives to support him no matter what he does. He figures that Iraq (and disdain for Obama) will trump everything else with conservatives. I suspect that a Lieberman pick will anger some folks here but the majority will rally around the nominee (as they always do).
