Obama did better than I thought he would do. He may have been coached better or he felt more comfortable in answering the questions, I don’t know. But he was better than he has been in the past when not using a teleprompter.

McCain was so obviously better than Obama that it explains why Obama does not want a town hall style debate with McCain. McCain showed decisiveness and leadership, while Obama appeared to be both pandering to the audience and trying hard to not offend anyone.

McCain showed leadership and Obama showed his lack of judgment and experience. Obama’s comment of as to when life begins, by saying “it’s above my pay grade” was his worst response. McCain’s comment to the same question, by saying “at conception” was right on target.

Obama can’t handle it and McCain thrives in this kind of interview/debate.

...by saying “it’s above my pay grade” was his worst response.

I think it's the proper response as to whether he should become president, though.

Senator Obama had to say, “it’s above my pay grade”, because nobody told him that he could vote “Present” every time he wants to avoid making a decision. Maybe the campaign can fix that for the debates.

Usually you and I agree pretty much but last night I thought that we saw the real McCain come out and start blasting and poor Barry is just a shell of the Messiah he thought he was this morning!!

Try as they might the DBM will not be able to spin their huge loss into victory.

On other threads this morning I have already taken a shot at what the frantic talking points by the DNC must have been last night as they panic stricken tried to salvage their Manchurian candidate.

They might have gone something like this:

1. Admit there was a debate.

2. Keep all responses short(NYslimes LAslimes WApost did rather short reviews) our guy lost big but don't belabor the point.

3.Change the topic whenever and never admit defeat, change topic at all costs.

C-spam obviously got the chatting points as they spammed for oblama big time but it won't help he lost big time last night. It was rather hilarious this morning as about half of the callers were obviously black, gee what a coincidence.

One of the defining moments, and there were many--drill now and oftern) in last night's debate was when McCain told of how his wife adopted their 17 year old daughter who was not expected to live.

When he said the words of his wife "come home so you can meet your new daughter" if a tear didn't touch your cheek you were not listening very carefully. At that point you knew you were backing truly great Americans and it made you proud as hell.

It was truly a defining moment and right then and there you could just see a million dems all running for the closet and locking the door, never to come out until after Nov. when the slaughter was over.

I agree with your analysis... Obama did look and sound better than at other times, that I’ll give him. However, as you said, McCain blew him out of the water.

Sounds right to me - BO is a conflicted person with at least two different agendas needing maintenance, one more or less secret and the other a far left leaning agenda with an occasionally bone for the right. He was in a situation that makes one feel very conflicted, especially if one has not lived through or at least thought through all the issues that could come up.

We all know what to do in November.
