According to the latest news, Pastor Rick Warren is going to ask Obama and McCain about abortion tonight during their appearance tonight at Saddleback, his mega church.
But what exactly is he going to ask them? And is he just going to simply toss some softball questions?
Now, what kind of questions can be considered softballs?
1. Asking if the candidates if they are for reducing abortion - who is going to admit, on the record, being against reducing the demand?
2. Asking how they plan to reduce abortion - you just know contraception is going to be touted as the solution to abortion, when history shows, at least among unmarried teens, contraception has only exacerbated the abortion problem.
3. Asking what they personally think about abortion - see #1 - who is going to admit they haven't seen an abortion they didn't like?
4. Asking if there is common ground on this issue - of course there is common ground, but based upon his record, Obama is not the candidate willing to actually find it, despite what he says.
Softballs aren't the only potential problem - so are "free passes" on the issue of abortion/infanticide. Here are some ways Warren can grant them...
1. Not asking about protecting our youngest and newest citizens - that is, infants who survive abortions but who are not offered any medical treatment or legal protection.
2. Not asking Obama to clarify his misrepresentation of his record regarding protecting infants born alive.
3. Not asking why our future President won't recognize infants who survive abortion as citizens - when indeed they are, abortion not withstanding.
4. Not asking why Obama is in favor of repealing every restriction on abortion, despite the fact they have helped to lower the rates?
5. Not asking McCain about his support for unethical stem cell research - enough said.
6. Not asking the candidates about taxpayer funded abortions.
The fact that Warren had to be cajoled into bringing up abortion is not a good sign at all. I would be surprised if all he does is toss some softballs and offer some free passes - but I'm hoping I'm wrong.
There will definitely be a liberal spin on all the questions. The questions will be purposely worded to provide cover for Obama. Of course knowing Obama, he may find offense and say something stupid.
I’m going to skip this debacle. I don’t trust “pastors” of “megachurches” who live like kings.
It will be bogus.
7pm central. OThers..?
warren said in an interview i heard friday that they will be asked the exact same questions... word for word. I am curious to see what those questons will be...
8pm est on CNN
It is always offensive to me when a pretend Christian goes to this much trouble to manipulate the people by pretending either of these men is an evangelical. Rick Warren is trying to give Obama a ‘religious’ face ... imagine that, a man claiming to be a Christian pastor is working to give cover to a demonic servant who believes in killing the alive unborn as a means to empower his political party. Rick Warren is a disgusting sham.
Glad to see you haven’t lost your fire Marvin! :-}
I have watched 3 Rick Warren speeches. Not once did he mention the word “Christ”.
“Im going to skip this debacle. I dont trust pastors of megachurches who live like kings.
It will be bogus.”
I totally agree. Warren was talking about “restoring civility” in politics. Huh? As if that’s anything we need to be worried about with all that’s going on in the world. Plus, he called Obama a “patriot”. *sigh*
I do not trust pastors of Mega churches. They are usually into it for the money. Will this one be any different?
Every time I meet a member of a mega-church, I always ask them “Aren’t they the ones who are stock piling assault weapons to take over the world?”. It’s a great conversation starter, believe me.
Well at least obamawama will feel at ease, his last pastor lived and was treated like a king.
