This is not in defence of abortion, but individuals have rights not enumerated in the Constitution. That is recognized in the ninth and tenth amendments: Ninth Amendment: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. Tenth Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. The founders feared that some would argue that if a right was not listed in the Constitution, then it was not a right possessed by individuals and could be taken by the state. That is an argument that conservatives must deny.

Your post seems somewhat unclear to me. The amendments you refer to would seem to suggest that abortion is not an issue for the federal government, but rather the states, meaning that Roe v. Wade should be overturned and the issue decided by each of the 50 states.

That is my opinion. Just as I don't want New Yorker's to dictate to to me as an Oregonian, I do not wish to dictate to them. This seems to me to be the conservative position, follow the constitution and where the federal government has no authority, the states do.
