DENVER (AP) ― Denver voters passed a ballot measure that would give police the authority to seize cars driven by illegal immigrants.
Initiative 100 requires police to impound vehicles of unlicensed drivers, an authority they already have. It also adds language to the city code that targets illegal immigrants.
The measure says that when a driver is an illegal alien or "may be reasonably suspected of being an illegal alien" police can impound the car.

Some good news, if you haven’t already seen.
Just like the rest of the legal code in America, success depends upon enforcement. Now that the measure is passed, Denverites need to demand enforcement.
Here in OK we passed some tough anti crimigrant laws. But now that the smoke has cleared, here in Tulsa anyway, there doesn't appear to be any enforcement.
At least, that's what a contractor told me. He employs mostly mexicans.
People that supported the measure are being called racist.
I guess illegals are a “race” now.

Considering Denver is a very liberal sanctuary city I am puzzled as to how this law passed.

Laws are stupid. They don’t NEED another law.
It's an immediate $500.00 fine and the vehicle is impounded until a valid DL and proof of insurance are presented, and the fine is paid in full, in cash.
While all this is going on, and discrete NCIC check is done as well.
They've made more than one arrest while the mope is standing there waiting to get his or her vehicle back.

About 5 minutes and deservedly so. I loan my car to my son who drives it and forgets to carry his license. In the good old days he would get a fine of $25 bucks or today $120 including court processing fees or whatever. But instead, unconstitutional idiots like you want to impound my car. You are a far bigger threat to my freedom, security, and private property rights than any one Billion islamo fascists could ever be. Their threat is abstract. Gotta remember that Denver is pro-criminal illegal.
They’ll either declare it unconstitutional or immediately look for ways to give EVERYONE a driver’s license.
Unfortuneate, but, this only passed because Denver is pro criminal and does not enforce the laws on illegals. If Denver had an honest gov’t this would not be necessary.
If it gets bad enough, expect vigilantism in the future.
