Dowd: 'Wave of Buyer’s Remorse Has Swept Democratic Party'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 08/13/2008 5:29:46 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

The ostensible subject of Maureen Dowd's column of this morning, Yes, She Can, is the way that Hillary, with a big helping hand from Bill, is undercutting Obama and casting a shadow over his upcoming convention.

But did Maureen bury the lead? Tucked down as her 12th paragraph comes this [emphasis added]:

The Clintons know that a lot of Democrats are muttering that their solipsistic behavior is “disgusting.” But they’re too filled with delicious schadenfreude at the wave of buyer’s remorse that has swept the Democratic Party; many Democrats are questioning whether Obama is fighting back hard enough against McCain, and many are wondering, given his inability to open up a lead in a country fed up with Republicans, if race will be an insurmountable factor.

Wait until they’ve officially nominated him and the Republicans reveal the real Obama.

The Barack-tober surprise will be great!

Race? Has she stopped to consider that maybe Obama's marxism will be an insurmountable factor? It's sad to see that if Obama does lose, the Democrats will learn nothing from it. They'll simply assume that America "wasn't ready" for a black president.

And the stupid Democrats will also assume that America really wants Hillary. She is so divisive. I wish they would get that thought out of their minds. Hillary is not wanted. The sooner the Democrat Party figures out a way to strip her of her ungodly power the better. Nominating Obama wasn’t enough to figure out how to make her go away. The Clinton’s are strong-arming Obama. That’s a bad sign for how badly we will be screwed if he is elected. Someone who can’t stand up to the Clinton’s will be useless as President. It’s bad enough that he is an over-educated Marxist. It is even worse that he is a wimp and couldn’t even stop the Clinton’s from taking over his convention.

You’re right. Anytime the Republicans win it’s always said to be because of some tangential factor. When Reagan creamed Mondale in 1984, Lesley Stahl on CBS declared that Mondale would have won easily if the people had voted based on issues. But, alas, they preferred Reagan’s charm and nice smile to Mondale’s stiffness and crooked nose.

When Obama loses, the bias will be worse than ever. We’ll be assured he would have won in a landslide (perhaps even winning all 57 states) if he had been white. But the seething undercurrent of racism in America doomed him.
