The head of Georgia's national security council said Wednesday Russia has sent 50 tanks into the central Georgian city of Gori, despite an agreed-upon ceasefire calling on both sides to retreat to positions they held before fighting began six days ago.

Security council head Alexander Lomaia said that the tanks entered Gori about 9:45 a.m. local time, but there was no independent confirmation of his claim.

Yeah, it’s tough to say exactly what’s going on, so much conflicting information.

But why would the Georgians make it up? It won’t take long at all for the truth to come out so what’s to be gained?

Are they that confused there, reporting wild rumors?

Or?

Aha! In the Fox News story linked above, there’s this”

“Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman Zurab Gvenetadze said that Russian forces seized a military base on the outskirts of Gori, situated on Georgia’s only significant east-west road.”

So maybe it’s a move into a base and not the city itself?

That would explain why the journos haven’t seen anything.

From AP following occurred sometime Wednesday.

Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman Zurab Gvenetadze said that Russian forces seized a military base on the outskirts of Gori, situated on Georgia's only significant east-west road.

Perhaps that is why the civilians did not see much. Tanks are in military base. Looks like the Russians are gonna link up the western forces with the main central thrust. They just completely cleared Georgian forces from the Western Autonomous region.

When that’s the problem, remember who had lied in the past.

Hmmmmm.....

A witness in Gori, 25 km (15 miles) south of the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali, told Reuters he could not see any Russian tanks.

"I've been all over town. No tanks. No Russians," said the witness, who asked not to be named. "People are confused and edgy, panicking easily," he said.

A Sky News team has been robbed at gunpoint on the outskirts of the Georgian city of Gori by men thought to be South Ossetian separatist militia.

....

Sky News correspondent Jason Farrell confirmed he had seen tanks on the streets in Gori, which has suffered extensively from Russian bombing raids.

He said he had seen them patrolling the streets and that a team of Norwegian journalists had been robbed in the centre of the town.

"It's the same scenes as we were seeing at the beginning of the conflict. As far as the people here are concerned, the politicians may be talking about peace but there's really no sign of it here."

It ain't over...

Yes it IS! it is TOO!

WE KNOW it's over because the Messiah, the Compassionate, the Merciful Lord Obama TOLD the Russians to just stop it, and they took his advice. And we know THAT's true because Tim " caterpillar eyebrows, I wanna be VEEP" Kaine said so.

So stop being a meanie and saying it's not over.

Oh, excuse me, It's time for my medication.
