The Carlyle Group agreed on Tuesday to sell John Maneely, a US manufacturer of steel pipes and tubes, to Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel for $3.53bn, culminating a two-year turnround process.

Carlyle has voluntarily filed to have the deal reviewed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (Cfius), a panel that seeks to protect certain US national security interests from foreign investment.

“Carlyle has voluntarily filed to have the deal reviewed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (Cfius), a panel that seeks to protect certain US national security interests from foreign investment.”

What a joke, the CFIUS is a rubber stamp committee beholden to the Carlyle group’s largest shareholders.

A foreign country was prevented from managing a port after public outcry. The same will work here. Contact McCain, Obama, your news channel. Make a stink and this will die.

Looks like Carlyle made a smart investment 2 years ago.

When I first saw this I thought it was going to be some liberal spouting the same tired conspiracy theories involving The Carlyle Group. I wouldn’t doubt that a liberal wrote this article hoping that conservatives will jump into it and help fuel the whacko’s vendetta against the Carlyle Group.

If you don’t like that foreigners can invest in the US, don’t go singling out one company that is doing nothing against the law, go to your representatives and get the laws changed.

Keep in mind that if foreigners can’t invest in the US, then US citizens should not be able to invest in any foreign ventures.

No. Russia must be blocked from acquiring ANY U.S. strategic assets. That means this company. Screw Russia, and any company stupid enough to sell them strategic assets.

Yet another sale of a US industry to a foreign interest. This time, to the sale is to an enemy... At what point do we officially declare America dead?

Optimism is empowering. Depriving you of it is the enemy’s objective. So be optimistic and empowered, and never stop fighting back.

Savage alluded to this as China and now Russia are buying US steel.

Every war that was won or lost hinged (no pun intended) on the ability to produce metal/steel/weapons/planes/tanks...

Carlyle Group cares nothing about the US...like every company who sponsors La Raza...the NWO is flexing their muscles.

In light of recent actions by Russia, there is greater cause to prevent this action.

In recent years Russia has nationalized a number of major industries, though they masked their actions as buyouts or seizures due to failure to pay retro-active taxes. Americans and others had made investments and suffered significantly due to the confiscatory actions of the Russian government.

If the Russians won’t allow external investment in their economy, we certainly shouldn’t allow major US industries to be purchased by Russian nationals or proxies.
