Be careful going after Fairey, there isn’t a graphic artist on the East Coast who doesn’t idolize the guy for his Andre the Giant has a Posse” stencil from the late 1980’s.
Even some freepers were taggin his stenciling and stickers in years past. I was one of them.

His stickers are the most produced and mimicked graffiti stickers ever made. He came from the small town south, went to ivy tower RISD, and had more street cred in NYC than any other stencil graffiti artist in the early 1990’s.
Fairey can make 5 phone calls and get $1,000,000 in free publicity. Each and every day, for weeks.
Every graphic and visual artist under 40 in the North East grew up idolizing the guy, he has connections across every advertising agency, every media organization’s design dept, and almost every advertising and modern art working artist across the region.
So no, I’m not joking.
The guy is a communist propagandist. Do you understand that?
I don’t argue what he is, I agree he is as far left an agitator as can be in this country, but I was trying to tell you he also has a long standing and deep rooted following of fellow artists and travelers.
