Obama today: "We should continue to push for a United Nations Security Council Resolution calling for an immediate end to the violence. This is a clear violation of the sovereignty and internationally recognized borders of Georgia – the UN must stand up for the sovereignty of its members, and peace in the world.".........JUST ONE LITTLE THING WRONG YOUR STATEMENT BARRY!

Under Article 27 of the UN Charter, Security Council decisions on all substantive matters require the affirmative votes of nine members. A negative vote, or veto, by a PERMANENT MEMBER member prevents adoption of a proposal, even if it has received the required number of affirmative votes. The FIVE PERMANENT MEMBERS ARE:

1) The French Republic 2) The People's Republic of China 3) The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 4) The United States of America 5) THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION!

SO BARRY OBAMA WANTS THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON A PROPOSAL THAT RUSSIA ITSELF WOULD VETO!

IS THIS THE BEST THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY CAN COME UP WITH AS A CANDIDATE?

It could have been worse. Obama could have implored the Russians not to burn Atlanta.

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open the mouth and remove all doubt.

See, but that’s where you’re wrong. Barry says that he wants to “push” for a Security Council resolution. Russian veto? Pshaw! Barry will wave his magic wand, the same one that will magically get the Pakistanis to fight harder against the Taliban, and all will be well.

We must pressure Russia to pressure Russia and put an end to this madness. Russia needs to show the rest of the international community that they are serious about stopping Russian aggression. /sarc

Um...why do you think his handlers wouldn’t let Barry take any questions? he probably would have said he fears for the safety of that wonderful Georgian City he has visited, Atlanta.

It shows that not only does Obama have no idea how the UN works, but also that his advisors have no idea how the UN works.

He has had a couple of days to come up with an actionable response, and has come up with nothing.

IT GETS WORSE, YES IT DOES. NEW MEXICO GOVERNOR RICHARDSON:

Bill Richardson, Making Obama Look Good on Georgia By Comparison

Richardson: “My view is that the United States — if we had a stronger relationship with Russia, we could exercise strong diplomacy to stop this effort against Georgia. We should immediately go to the United Nations Security Council, condemn Russia’s action, and then get the Security Council to pass a strong resolution getting the Russians to show some restraint, and possibly at the same time generate some U.N. peacekeeping troops.

UNBELIEVABLE STUPIDITY! HEY GOVERNOR, HOW YA GONNA STOP THE RUSSKIES FROM VETOING YOUR RESOLUTION, WITH WHISKEY?

FROM lgf:

Obama Calls for UN to Pass Resolution Condemning Russia, Forgets Russia Has UNSC Veto

Mon, Aug 11, 2008 at 5:55:12 pm PDT

An astoundingly bone-headed statement from Barack Obama today, as he calls for the United Nations Security Council to pass a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Georgia.

Memo to the Obama campaign: Russia has veto power in the United Nations Security Council.

Oops!
