Byrd: “And I ought to know because I’ve known them all.”

Oh, come on, Sheets. You lived through Buchanan’s presidency in the mid 1800s, and he’s generally acknowledged to have been the worst. Let alone the Clintoons, that loser Carter, and FDR’s attempt to impose socialism on the US. They were all such losers it’s hard to determine which was “the worst.” We know it isn’t Pres. Bush.

Just before the senate hearings on whether or not to remove Clinton from office Byrd said: “Even though these rise to high crimes and misdemeanors (the impeachment charges against BJC), I’ll not vote to remove.”

but Abraham Lincoln is largely viewed as being the prime mover in the destruction of the United States as a Constitutional Republic. His virtual nullification of the Constitution is unparalleled in United States history. Lincoln was a tyrant in the truest sense of the word. But, since the victors write the histories, he has been elevated to sainthood.

Largely viewed?

“... Admit and learn from your mistakes ...”

ROTFLOL!!!! Since when have the democrats ever admitted to any of their mistakes .. and they sure haven’t learned from them .. they continue to vote for the same idiots over and over and over and over.

This is just typical of the dems .. in their usual technique of “projection” (which is a mental disorder), THE DEMS HAVE JUST TOLD US THEY NEVER ADMIT THEIR MISTAKES OR LEARN FROM THEM.

Byrd’s favorite president would have been democrat president George Wallace.

How could he write a book while drooling all over the paper. He was having a bad day because he ran out of pampers.

The ghostwriter woke him up occasionally to let him ramble (mostly about his dog Billy), change his Pampers, and go back to sleep.

“Largely viewed?”

Yes, by many historians, many of whom are Lincoln admirers, because they LIKE the fact that he was responsible for creating a huge and all-powerful federal goverment. Many historians applaud that, as they believe the US was unworkable before Lincoln because it lacked strong centralization. The fact that the founding fathers intended the new nation to be decentralized somehow escapes them, and when they do acknowledge that, they take the position the founding fathers were wrong. As for Lincoln’s tossing aside the Constitution, even his admirers admit he did that, but they justify it by saying Lincoln was faced with a unique situation which required unique actions.

Wonder if the senile old Kleagle was crapping his pants and drooling his food down his face while he was having this book ghost-written?

Too much Tennesee whiskey. Lincoln is however, seen, throughout my 61 years, as the greatest president time and time again. Popularity polls, media, bios, historians, and even some southerners.

Does any one on this site actually believe that Sen. Byrd WROTE a book??

He is not able to stay awake while sitting in the Senate, I doubt very much he has the ability to write a book, liberal young aides have more than likely wrote this, he put his name on it and they think we are stupid enough to buy this...
Not in this house!!

Robert KKK Byrd is not a man whose judgment I would care about on any subject under the sun. My wish for West Virginia is that all those “Robert Byrd Memorial” federal facilities and buildings could be re-named for someone who is not a corrupt bloviating jackass.
