A wolf pack of at least 30 thugs viciously attacked two hero ex-Marines in Brooklyn after they rescued a teenage girl who was being assaulted, police and witnesses said yesterday. And when the brother of one of the former servicemen tried to come to his rescue during the July 25 melee in Coney Island, he was beaten into a coma. The former leathernecks, Valentyn Olenyev, 23, and Boris Bukler, 22, Russian émigrés who served tours in Iraq, were walking a female friend to her parked car on West 23rd Street at 12:30 a.m. when they spotted two men holding the screaming teen by her hands and legs. "She was yelling, 'Help!' "..."It wasn't our intention to get into a fight," said Bukler. "We said, 'Let the girl go, and we'll leave.' We told them, 'Stop.' "She was screaming, and all we did was look to help her. I got a bottle smashed over my head, and after that, I started fighting. But I got beat down. "I was getting my ass kicked by 50 people." Their friend called Olenyev's brother, Ivan, 22. "When I showed up, there were a lot of people there, people on the left and people on the right, and then - 'Boom!' - I got hit and passed out,"...Police sources said he was pounded senseless by 240-pound Timothy Dixon, 23, who was swinging a metal baseball bat. Ivan suffered multiple facial fractures and will require plastic surgery. The NYPD is looking for Dixon, who remains at large....The two former Marines, meanwhile, insist that the violence had racial overtones, although the assault has not been labeled a bias crime. Bukler said, "Those in the crowd were yelling, 'Hey, white boys, you're in the 'hood now!' We were yelling back, 'We don't care - we live here!'

There are no two groups, when brought into close company, that will get into a bigger brawl, than Russian immigrants and young urban blacks males.

Of couurse the WHITE EX MARINES being ATTACKED by NON WHITES isn’t a “hate crime”. Clearly COLOR mattered.

Wow, that’s pretty sad. What happened, it wasn’t really clear. The girl was being attacked, the article didn’t say by who, the ex-Marines stepped in to help, and the whole neighborhood turned on them because they were white? That’s what I read, though it wasn’t very clear. But if that’s how it happened, it sounds very sad. Is this country worth defending with slobs like that occupying the inner cities?

Have you ever been in a bar fight? Hand-to-hand combat? Have you ever gone to the aid of a friend in a fight?
I’ve been in all three. Unfortunately there isn’t time sometimes to stop and dial 911. Sometimes the only thing to do is defend the innocent and help your friends and hope like hell one of the innocent bystanders who can’t, won’t or is just not going to help, calls the cops.
Sometimes, you gotta fight.

Hey Marines. In the good old days, whenever a Marine was beat up by a mob, you could bet your bottom dollar that next time, there would be a LOT more Marines around. And the mob would lose.
I had a great uncle who was a senior Marine NCO. Had any of his Marines been attacked, he would have had a platoon pay a visit to that bad part of town on a “sightseeing” tour.
Sometimes the old ways are better.
He would double park in front, get out, and lean against the car . . . watching me while I went inside and ordered.
We never had any trouble but if we had, he wouldn't have hesitated to pull out his S&W .38, which was legal for him to carry as a LEO.
It wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all so see some sort of white vigilante justice, some kind of retaliation for what seems to happen with impunity.

Well, there was time for her to call one of the men’s brother, who arrived in plenty of time to get his ass kicked.
