The 2008 U.S. Presidential campaign is turning into the election year that mainstreamed wireless technology. Barack Obama’s campaign has announced its intention to let texters know who his running mate will be in the days leading up to the Democratic convention Aug. 25-28 in Denver.

According to Obama website, voters can be the “first to know” who Obama’s vice president will be by going online and providing a cell phone number (or e-mail address), or by texting VP to 62262 to receive a text message with the breaking announcement.

Obama\'s campaign has used wireless and Internet technology to build more of a grass roots campaign. Since announcing his plan to run for president last summer, Obama has employed roughly 25 text campaigns to supporters.

Wow you’re thinking landslide if we would know the winner before the polls close on the West Coast. It could happen; Obama may have peaked in his support.

Some people say Obama is an “empty suit”. The more voters focus on the election, more voters may conclude he’s too liberal and too inexperienced.

Remember, there’s a small group of political junkies, including people here, who have been following this campaign closely through all the primaries and caucuses. But millions of voters don’t start paying attention till after the conventions and the traditional kick off of the general election campaigns around Labor Day. Millions still don’t know what they think of Obama, but may indicate support just because they normally support a Democrat. But as more become engaged, Obama’s support may continue to erode.

Why does he sign it “Barry Obama”?

It isn't signed “Barry" Obama. I think what Barlf was commenting on is that the large 'O' in his signature resembles that of a famous serial killer. But getting back to reality, the obvious concern here regarding Obama and his official 'artist', Shepard Fairey, is his (Obama's) endorsement of a known communist propagandist, and his acceptance of him as his official 'artist'.
