George Clooney once famously declared he could never run for public office because hed slept with too many women, done too many drugs and been to too many parties.
But now the Hollywood heart-throb has entered the political arena at the highest level by becoming an unofficial adviser to US Presidential front-runner Barack Obama.
Oscar-winner Clooney, 47, is said to be helping the Democratic candidate to polish his image at home and abroad.
But he is also sharing with Obama his strong opinions on Iraq and the Middle East.
Sources say the actor has tried to hide the pairs friendship for fear his Left-wing views and playboy image would hurt the Presidential hopefuls bid for the White House.
But Democratic Party insiders have revealed that Clooney and Obama regularly send texts and emails to each other and speak by phone at least twice a week.
One said last night: They are extremely close. A number of members of the Hollywood community, including Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, offered to help raise funds for Barack but it was with George that he struck up this amazing affinity.
George has been giving him advice on things such as presentation, public speaking and body language and he also emails him constantly about policy, especially the Middle East.
George is pushing him to be more balanced on issues such as US relations with Israel.
'George is pro-Palestinian. And he is also urging Barack to withdraw unconditionally from Iraq if he wins.
Its a very risky relationship. His hope of becoming Americas first black President depends heavily on winning over conservative voters and it would be suicidal for him to be perceived as a tool of a Hollywood Leftie, which is how they regard George.

The sad thing is Clooney is probably better qualified to be President. Still just as wacky though.
Some people will do anything for attention.
...This is only more evidence of Obama's fecklessness and lack of real credibility.
The Oval Office is not an oyster but a place in which serious decisions are made and affect billions of people throughout the United States and the world.
Only one more reason this man is NOT ready to be President.
Some people will do anything for attention....meaning Clooney not you.
Are you kidding??? That was Bill Clinton's PLATFORM!
LOL! He sure was a big help to his Dad here in the Ky 4th.
bleah.
I hope to god this man loses so we don’t have 8 more years of this BS.
Clooney sounds like he fits right in with a recent president and a couple of present hopefuls.
O’s depth just keeps getting shallower and shallower.
Right... George and B.H.O. go way back... bet they played a lot of sand lot baseball together... NOT.
Bleeding heart Clooney will be expecting some payback... a-la quid pro quo style. Probably some kind of grants/tax breaks for his little pet projects... or assurances that the chosen one's head of the Treasury/IRS will be kind to actors that are kings/queens of EXCESS profits (relative to the oil industry of course).
I read earlier this week that Scarlett Johansson texts Obama her opinions on policy as well.
I guess if mobs of people cheer and adore you wherever you go, your opinion must be better than most.
And that's working out real great George. Keep it up.
uh, uh, um, er, uh, uh...
Call from where? Kerry’s former Lake Como house?
sounds like an overblown ego to me.
Obama has George cLooney.
clooney didn’t make any friends with his remark about abramoff.
no one at the time noticed that clooney’s name could be put to the same purpose.

“..the Hollywood heart-throb ...”
If that flabby, beer-gut, second-rate Peanut-gallery reject is a heart-throb, than the females who think so are scraping dead minnows from the bottom of the barell.
Heart-throb? My dog’s rear-end is prettier.
