Drill Like Texas

The invisible hand of the marketplace is alive and well in Texas. Over the past 12 months Texas has created 245,000 jobs. That accounts for more than half of the jobs created in America during that time.

Not coincidentally, Texas has the second lowest tax burden of the 50 states. Even conservative estimates have projected a $10 billion surplus for the next biennium. Texas also leads the nation in energy production — 30% of the natural gas and 20% of oil produced in America comes from Texas.

So what can the rest of the nation learn from Texas when it comes to energy, the economy, and the environment?

Texas knows how to make money. The demorats in Colorado are setting on one of the biggest oil shale deposits and they would rather destroy Colorado than have prosperity.

Hey, finally some dumb Yankee publication gets it. Obama plans on giving everyone $1000 for nothing but the oil and gas companies gave me $2500 a couple months ago for just signing a little piece of paper.

“Texas already produces more wind energy than any other state.” .... These things are a terrible eyesore. Sad to see wind farms destroying Texas’ beautiful landscape. We’d be better off with a couple more nuke-plants...small footprint, way more efficient energy producers.

And the plan is to build more in West Texas, charge each household across the state an extra $4.00/month to transport the energy to North and East Texas. I'm sure this is T. Boone's idea, which will be a money maker for him.

PROPAGANDA! All of it! Things are horrible in Texas. No one should come here for the prosperity. We are in economic shambles down here. Don’t believe anything in this article yankees. Stay at home! You wouldn’t like here anyway. All the freedom and open space, it can be overwhelming.

You are so right. It's so damn hot here and the lakes are drying up, and the mosquitoes will get you. No one should come to Texas--I'm sure you wouldn't like it. We're all just a bunch of rubes down here--not nearly sophisticated enough for you Californians or folks from Massachusetts.

Actually, all the folks on both coasts should stay there. They will never like it here in Texas.

How true. First thing they would do is try to change things to be more like where they came from.

That would call for an ass-kicking.

The stupid political class of the RNC and every person who is in either the oil business or politics leaves out what this writer starts with - JOBS!! 245,000 jobs, created from oil and gas. Don’t forget the TRICKLE DOWN effect of pick up trucks sold to haul equipment to jobs and SeminTrucks sold to haul equipment to JOB sites. When was the last time EXXON mentioned that they create JOBS!! My goodness they are stupid. It would not hurt if the mentioned that milk is more expensive than gas, but it would really help if the OIL people and the RNC and Steve Schmidt w/McCain mentioned JOBS. - /rant just starting -

States with low taxes prosper.

States with high taxes suffer.

I can't think of a concept more simple than that.

I am retired so fuel is more of a concern for me. We can't go too far with the jobs or the illegals well come back in droves. It is the SOP of the rats kill the oil industry, jobs, construction, etc. Billy's brother Jimmy has the record for turning the GNP back over 10%. It seems that the rats have no education in Economics and seem to have studied socialism and communism.
